Very good game, the difficulty is very good throughout and the harder difficulties feel very accomplishing to complete, specifically because it's fun to learn a boss's attack pattern to defeat it effectively! If you like a good challenge, I would recommend playing on brutal AFTER playing on normal, since the difficulty ramp up feels quite natural that way and still feel challenging throughout.3 found this helpful

I found this game after the Dev released some fun and well made characters in the Rivals of Aether Workshop. It wasn't for a while until I learned that these characters were from a game. I got the game during a sale and I had a lot more of a blast than I thought I'd be getting into. The controls are tight and I always felt like I never failed an input, the hit boxes are forgiving, and (if you're playing on Normal Difficulty) you get fair checkpoint placements. Each weapon felt useful and fun to swap between, with each gimmick and upgrade just adding to the sheer fun factor of it all. The different characters you meet were all genuinely interesting and intriguing. I didn't think I'd get this much fun and satisfaction out of a Metroidvania I learned about when fighting a wacky cast of mod characters. Try the game, it's the *right* thing to do!2 found this helpful
Super Gear Quest, developed and published by Blob Games, is a sprawling indie Metroidvania that leans heavily into classic genre structure while attempting to distinguish itself through sheer volume of content and a strong emphasis on boss encounters. It follows the journey of Starter, an android awakening on a strange, fractured world with little memory of his past, guided by internal AI companions as he explores interconnected regions and gradually uncovers both his purpose and the looming threat surrounding him. The narrative provides a framework for the adventure, but the experience is driven far more by exploration and combat than by storytelling. The game adheres closely to the traditional Metroidvania formula, encouraging players to explore a large, segmented world where progress is tied to acquiring new abilities. Each region introduces its own hazards, enemy types, and traversal challenges, and as new skills are unlocked, previously inaccessible paths open up, inviting backtracking and deeper exploration. This loop is familiar but effective, offering a steady sense of progression as the map gradually expands. While the level design does a solid job of guiding players forw…1 found this helpful
