✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this indie RPG as a light, affordable option with charming low-poly art and satisfying gear progression systems that works well for casual play sessions. However, common complaints include difficulty being too easy, clunky combat mechanics with limited control, basic AI, occasional bugs like clipping and item interaction issues, and a thin story that feels generic. Most agree it's a solid value for the price if you're looking for a relaxed RPG experience without heavy time commitment, though it lacks the polish and depth of larger titles.

Pretty solid little RPG! Especially for an indie game I just happened across. On sale for less than the price of a cup of coffee and had a few hours of fun along the way. BLUF: if you want a game to scratch the RPG itch without having to dedicate 100's of hours to.. this one is a decent pick for a night or two. This game is a minimalistic indie version of some of the greats with plenty of the mechanics and systems we have come to expect: * Gear progression feels good. * Combat has blocking, dodge rolling, some support magic/abilities that make a difference in a fight gone wrong, and range/bow attacks although I felt sword/shield combo was the only real way to go.. the bow felt more like a "pull" mechanic rather than a main dps option. * crafting system (potions & gear) * leveling up & stat point assignments * weapon & armor enchantments * decent story that ties the different areas/levels/biomes together. The Tale of Dark Lands does all of this, and does it extremely well for its price point. Some of the cons: - combat is mostly spam attack button and save for the last few levels you can get away with little to no skill, dodging, or strategy on pullin…

Haven't made it all the way through, but it seems good so far. It has you go to areas to clear out mobs. Not very difficult mobs though, hardest part is sometimes they run around you. From what I've played it has you start out with some simple quests helping a village, then turns into an overarching story. The controls seem fine, but I noticed the map objects (like fences) kind of flashing in and out of existence on the rare occasion. Mainly my only issue is it's a bit easy. I defeated the goblin chieftain, and hardly lost any health/didn't need health potions.

I really enjoyed this short game. The art style is charming and the stakes are not very high. A perfect game to play for short spurts to relax. The levels are structured a little like chapters that allow you to do minor crafting for weapons and armour. There is loot management you have to deal with, but you can return to previous levels to collect what is dropped/missed. The game could do with a little bit of polishing, you can clip into the world or items and get stuck, but it is totally worth playing as is too. I played the demo before purchasing the full game and I highly suggest others to do the same.

Nice 7/10 for me !. World well done, characters a little more schematic, but good. Story is lineal and simple, with minimal interactions. No side quests at all, except the 9 objectives in 9 missions. Couldn't use the rune forge, slots didn't accept the runes. Once I maxed to max level 20, I just ran past the foes to the target of each mission. Mind, satisfied, but not a true long rich RPG like Paign 1 or 2. --- Disclosure: 71 y.o. gamer, I use my own C.E. tables in all games. Here some hints for older gamers like me so they can enjoy fully this nice game: Gold, Arrows, Health Potion, and other items in inventory are all 4 Bytes Exact. Attribute Upgrade Points, Experience, Health, are all Float, Simple, Rounded (cero decimals). Enjoy !

The story is pretty bland - no real substance - typical there’s bad guys, you must defeat them! The combat feels clunky - you do this weird spin attack after every third attack which doesn’t let you have more control of the combat. The mobs AI is also pretty bad - they move around in circles before they get to you. Then there’s bugs when interacting with items - having to hold A but not sure if that’s just my device. Even if you forget that there’s not real exploration - you just go to this portal that takes you to the next place, follow the path, defeating goblins and repeating.

This game is worth a play. Don't expect the world. I love the low poly style. I found this after playing RAIDBORN and THE BLOODLINE. It's on sale so I couldn't pass it up. It's worth the price. I made it through the first mission, playing before I had to leave. I will update this again when I finish it.
