About Task Force 1942: Surface Naval Action in the South Pacific

Surface Naval action in the south pacific.

A Long Lance torpedo rips through the hull of your flagship. Huge columns of water from enemy gunfire surround your battleships. It's just another day in Task Force 1942, the first in a new series of spectacular World War II Pacific War simulations from MicroProse.

This is your chance to command a fleet of destroyers, cruisers and battleships against aggressive enemy forces in the South Pacific.

No detail has been overlooked in this painstakingly researched simulation. Your daily routine will include firing torpedoes into enemy vessels. Issuing commands to ships and convoys. And confronting enemy ships head-on in explosive night battles.

Plus, to really boost your confidence, you'll experience frightening torpedo wakes and blinding explosions so realistic you'll need to change uniforms every time you play.

Task Force 1942 from MicroProse. It's the only way to experience the thrills... and risks... of surface naval combat in World War II.
  • Command U.S. or Japanese forces.
  • Hundreds of combat ships faithfully reproduced.
  • Battle enemies in single engagements or comprehensive campaigns.
  • Technical guidance from Vice Admiral William MAck, Gunnery Officer abroad the John D. Ford in the world War II Solomons Campaign.
  • Manual needed for copy-protection is included. You'll find it in your game folder.

Works great and all...but still has DRM from 1992 in it. Inexcusable. Should either come cracked or have the ID card scanned and included. No control card either. You do get the manual (inside the game folder), but I shouldn't have to search around to find a way to play a game I legally bought.

Decent campaign and AI for its era. Graphics not as good as the trailer, but let's be honest, who's playing a mid-90s game for the graphics? Recommend fully if you're interested in the era, and particularly in the Guadalcanal campaign. Would love a remake. I've been playing this one off and on for close to 30 years.

Admittedly I purchased this based on the MANY hours I had with it decades ago when it first came out. It is massively dated now, but still plays okay and is enjoyable. For the price, it is well worth reliving the good old days with this one!

did not play it even though i was a kid in the 90s but as someone that likes retro games this is actually impressive for the time i think it might be hard to learn to play at first but for a pixelated 3D game in 1992 its got some good graphics actually for the time most games until ps1 and n64 were pixelated but lacked 3D sure its graphics may not have aged well but its a 30 year old game and its actaully kinda complex for a naval game of the time i would say a good game for people who like naval battle simulators
