About The Afterglow of Grisaia

The Afterglow of Grisaia was originally released in Japan as a first-edition bonus for volume 5 of the Eden of Grisaia anime adaptation Blu-ray/DVD.
We're excited to release it as a standalone product for the first time, fully localized for western fans to enjoy!
The Afterglow of Grisaia takes the form of a side story to The Labyrinth of Grisaia (the second main series Grisaia game, also recently released in English!).
The game is a story-driven visual novel with serious overtones.

The Labyrinth of Grisaia shed some light on Kazami Yuuji's past, offering a deeper look at events stretching as far back as his birth.
This story, however, concerns Yuuji's experiences with Kusakabe Asako, the CIRS agent who rescued him at a young age from a terrorist organization.
Secret passages of The Labyrinth of Grisaia are revealed within...

It is recommended that you play this game only after having played The Labyrinth of Grisaia.

The Afterglow of Grisaia is a kinetic visual novel set within the broader Grisaia universe, focusing on a self-contained story that emphasizes character interaction and emotional tone rather than player choice. Unlike the mainline entries, it does not feature branching routes or decision-driven progression, instead presenting a linear narrative designed to enrich the setting and provide additional perspective on familiar characters. The writing centers on personal dynamics, introspection, and quieter moments that fill in the space between larger events in the series. Its pacing is steady, prioritizing atmosphere and character presence over dramatic plot shifts. This approach makes the experience accessible to returning players who want more context and emotional depth, while being less suited for those seeking heavy conflict or complex narrative branching. Presentation follows the series’ established style. Character sprites, background art, and interface elements are polished and consistent, relying on clean illustrations and expressive poses. Visual effects are modest but effective in emphasizing tone during key scenes. The artwork maintains the aesthetic identity of the franch…

The Afterglow of Grisaia is a compact yet emotionally dense visual novel that functions as a reflective epilogue to key themes within the broader Grisaia series. Developed by Frontwing and published internationally by Frontwing USA, it is not designed to stand as a full-length sequel, but rather as an intimate character study that deepens the player’s understanding of Kazami Yuuji’s formative years. Intended to be experienced after The Labyrinth of Grisaia, the game assumes familiarity with the series’ world and characters, and rewards that familiarity with carefully written scenes that add emotional weight and narrative clarity to Yuuji’s past. The story centers on Yuuji’s life following his rescue from a terrorist organization, focusing heavily on his relationship with Kusakabe Asako, the CIRS operative who becomes his handler, guardian, and ideological anchor. Rather than dramatizing this period with large-scale action or espionage set pieces, The Afterglow of Grisaia takes a quieter, more introspective approach. It explores how Yuuji’s sense of morality, emotional detachment, and pragmatic worldview were shaped through prolonged exposure to Asako’s guidance and contradictions.…

Very well done side story to Labyrinth. It was actually an interesting read. Finally Yuuji is also voice acted. I prefer this type of side stories to the Michiru style ones.

An incredibly short side story about Yuuji's past (2h long) which more or less tells exactly the same things that we could learn from the Grisaia no Meikyuu, however "AoG" offers full voiceover for Yuuji which other VNs were lacking it is quite pricey for it's short lenght and also pretty much nothing new is introduced so it serves more as a recap of his past, gotta appreciate his voice acting tho (not mentioning that he seems to be voiced by a different person in the Anime which quite bothers me nonetheless) so i can reccomend this short story to those in love with Grisaia series, assuming it is on sale or sold in a bundle
