The Hand of Glory earns praise from adventure game fans for its engaging story, likeable characters, substantial length, and well-crafted puzzles that challenge without frustrating. However, some players criticize the visual presentation as garish and poorly executed, find the dialogue uninspired, and feel the slow movement mechanics make the game tedious to play through despite its narrative appeal.
A fantastic game with an excellent story and rich thematic material: Cagliostro, John Dee, and others. Great humour, atmosphere, and puzzles. Similar to Broken Sword, but superior, and more mature in tone.1 found this helpful
Good fun. Well-written, and the puzzles are mostly sane. Art isn't glorious, of course, but you know that before you buy and is hardly relevant in a genre where the classics are 256-colour VGA.1 found this helpful
Got way more out of it than expected. The visuals are obviously low budget, yet there was a clear effort to animate many environmental interactions and cutscenes.1 found this helpful
I'm not going to give this game a THUMBS DOWN, but I haven't completed it. I thought the story was good, the characters and dialogue was original, but after 10-hours into this I'm calling it a day. It's turning too much into a grind, and while the storyline is engaging, I feel they've gone just a little OTT with the tasks.
Decent point&click adventure. The first part isn't that good as it's not all that interesting, takes too long to figure out what kind of game it wants to be and is just not well paced. Also a bit too silly for the story it tries to tell. Second part gets a grip on all of that and makes this an overall enjoayble game. The puzzles are good throughout though. I had a better time than with the comparable Broken Sword games I recently replayed.
Extremely linear. Moon logic. Screen lock bugs are numerous. No. I do NOT recommend
