Developer’s Note:
Thanks so much for playing The Last Humble Bee!I consider this game complete and am now focusing on new projects, but I’m really proud of what we made together. I may revisit Humble Bee down the road, but for now, I’m excited to keep moving forward.Cheers, Jacob WeersingWhat Steam players say

This is a really charming game that clearly has a lot of love and effort put into it. The attacks feel crisp, and there are many combos you can put together. The story is fun and there are a lot of Easter Eggs. I appreciate the Sonic the Hedgehog approach to a bullet heaven game. However, there are two main issues it suffers from that I’m not sure can be fixed at this stage of the game: - The maps are small, and there are loading times between areas. Even taking a single step into a new section triggers a load screen, and most barrels you jump into also lead to a loading screen. This is the first survivor-like game I’ve experienced with such a system, and it disrupts the game's overall flow. I would prefer to fight in a single contained area and have new areas unlock, rather than facing frequent loading screens back-to-back. - The game has an element of dimensionality, with cliffs and ledges, and enemies can jump on their own. However, it’s not always clear what constitutes flat ground versus a cliff. It can be difficult to determine if a boss is six feet above you or right next to you. To improve this, there needs to be a visual indicator—such as shadows—to better convey the …13 found this helpful
Just beat the game twice now, its really fun! The music is great and I really like the art style and gameplay. It's not the most difficult, but that doesn't mean you can just swing and win without a worry. The deck building aspect is cool and the cards themselves are fun, even if a few of them are meh (some of the jumping/rolling ones). The bosses are great too, especially the last one and the widow, her design is cool :3. Some things that would be really cool! - Synergies between different elements or specific cards! I feel like synergies are a big aspect of rogue-like games, and help make each run more unique! - Parrying, dude has a shield but doesn't use it :(. Balance it how you like, whether it just prevents damage or stuns, etc. - More weapons, or weapons that have unique properties to them! Maybe the magic staff buffs attacks from the buddy or the staff uses those attacks? The hammer maybe stuns enemies briefly or more knockback, things like that! - More to do after beating the game besides getting a faster time, maybe a hardcore mode or instead of only being able to unlock cards, lock the weapons aswell and have the player do challenges to unlock them, same with card slots…1 found this helpful
Pretty simple but it's aight, would buy on sale tho
I typically don't leave negative reviews for games that I got for super cheap, especially Indie games, but wow this is just not fun, like at all. Game seemed enjoyable at first, until you get to the boss fights. Rather than make them challenging, once you get far enough in the health bar, the game just vomits 20+ enemies into the arena that you then have to deal with before you can safely return to fighting the boss. Even without that the bosses are really cheap, the golem has attacks with identical startup animations but different timings on them making it a guessing game, and the sword boss doesn't even telegraph his attacks at all, they're literally instant. Usually, I can ignore a game having bad boss fights if the rest of the game is good, the problem is there's literally nothing else to do in this game.
Fun quick game. Takes about 90 min to finish. If you get it on sale, get it. Otherwise don't bother.
An enjoyable experience, great for some quicker runs. One of the few I've played in its genre that progresses based on beating the spread-out bosses instead of a timer, and has enough story elements and locations to add more depth than you'd expect. Add in the potential for puns, and I beelieve I enjoyed my time here.
