About The Letter: Classic Edition

The Letter: Classic Edition is the ORIGINAL experience from the classic title "The Letter", with a few changes and additions. Relive the Wii U game that gathered so much hate it became a cult classic with a uniquely passionate following.

Embark on a creepy narrative driven tale about a boy in search of his missing father. It all begins when he receives a mysterious letter.

The game features hints of psychological horror while mostly utilizing walking simulator type of game play. For fans of horror titles or scary games, this is a piece of history you cannot miss. Game is suited for younger audiences unable to play more mature horror titles.

Features of the Classic Edition Compared To the Original:
  • A Graphics "De-make" - New Old School Retro Art-style that enhances the original experience.
  • Improvements made to Atmospheric Effects - Improved particle systems, fog, and post processing effects.
  • UI Overhaul - New Pause Screen and functionality updates.
  • A few new interactive elements added to the game.
  • Major bug fixes.

All original levels and story elements are unchanged outside of these few feature updates.

Do you have what it takes to solve the mystery of The Letter?

Overall an okay atmospheric walking simulator. It's $2 and if you get it on sale it's even cheaper, so I wasn't expecting anything huge. Unfortunately it gets a meh from me, the atmosphere couldn't really help me ignore the problems. The BIG complaint I have is the first area is just too open and is too easy to get lost because there's no landmarks. There's also no way to know what items you have found and what you're missing, so even though. I spent a half hour looking for a single item that I couldn't find. This could be mitigated in an update or something with a map, or something that could help me not re-tread the same areas over and over because again, there's little in terms of landmarks, so I couldn't even TELL half the time if I had been there before. Eventually If found it and the second area was MUCH better. Easily half the size, and visible landmarks, still didn't know what I had but it was much more fun to search this area. In the end I completed the game, and it was meh, I didn't feel compelled to do more searching ESPECIALLY in that first map so I looked up a guide to get the rest of the hidden collectables. If you want to kill an hour or so and don't mind se…

The game is fun. The ending is 😑... I missed out on this game for the Wii U, but I am glad I have a way to play through Steam. #videogamepreservation Overall, it feels like an unfinished demo, but it was still fun.

So having sat down a perfected this game in one sitting, man is it just ok. Realistically, the only people who are gonna buy this are the Wii U users from back in the day when this game went viral. All you do is walk around and collect some things for maybe 20 minutes and then it's over. The story isn't anything special at all, but if you like bad horror games and have 2 dollars burning a hole in your pocket, give it a go I guess.
