異中道-The Other Way

異中道: The Other Way is a very small horror game built around the same basic idea as Exit 8. I am walking along a quiet rural road called Inakamichi and trying to spot anything that looks out of place. It sounds simple because it really is. I am not fighting anything, collecting equipment or solving complicated puzzles. I am mostly walking, looking carefully at my surroundings and deciding whether I have noticed an anomaly before the time limit runs out. I actually like how focused it is because the game gets straight to its main idea without filling it with unnecessary systems. The atmosphere is probably the strongest part for me. The road looks ordinary at first, which makes small changes feel much more noticeable. I have to pay attention to things that I could easily ignore in a normal walking game because something slightly wrong can completely change what I should do next. I like that feeling of uncertainty because I am never completely sure whether I am looking at an actual anomaly or simply overthinking something that is perfectly normal.
