The Pit Arcade

Simple platformer that you’ve played many times before. First and foremost, the game's assets are nothing new, having previously appeared in other platformers. Although indie devs are not often artists, I would still like some original artwork. However, the primary fact is that this game offers decent gameplay and platforming. The controls are basic; you can move left and right, jump, and shoot. The only other mechanic is bouncy mushrooms, which take you higher as you hop on them. The gamepad is supported, however you cannot change the buttons. This is a major issue because shooting is positioned on the shoulder button, making the experience uncomfortable. There is no auto-fire so you must press the button for each bullet. There are several game modes. In addition to the four main chapters, you have gravity, time race, higher jumping, and so on. Each has multiple stages that must be completed with a limited amount of lives. Fortunately, there are red coins that provide more lives. Yellow coins, on the other hand, have no purpose other than to boost your score. There are no checkpoints, so you’ll respawn back at the start of the current level when you die. Although stages aren’…
