i decided to give this game a try and for some reason, it felt better this time around in ng+. i doubt any updates or anything were done but the game felt very stiff when i was i ng+ and i nearly finished but refunded and didn't look back. saw it again and picked it back up and it felt much better. maybe because i played other lower budget games in the meantime or something im not sure but i liked it and was able to finish it happily. this isn't a game i would replay despite the aspect that's there (simply because there are other games that have this type of adaptive difficulty that are more rewarding). i wouldn't have recommended this game before but if you get it on sale especially when it drops really really cheap, i recommend checking it out if you're interested in challenging combat or maybe scratching a sifu itch.

I've been enjoying this game quite a lot. It gets you straight into the action, and if you die, it's no issue because you can get right back to it without any unnecessary interruptions. The difficulty is appropriate: tough but not frustrating, and you'll for sure notice your skills improving, making the game rewarding. It's pretty straightforward: improve your skills, and you win. I don't usually go for fighting games, but this one does a good job of getting you to understand the mechanics. I'll probably play more fighting games in the future and recommend this one to other fighting-game averse players.

This is quite an impressive game as a proof-of-concept. I wouldn't say it's a fully fledged game in its own right. If you got it for free or very cheap (and if you like fighting games or fight scenes in movies), it's worth a bit of your time. The focus is on perfectly-timed dodges, which basically happens from memorizing the opponents' sequence of moves. When you get it right multiple times in a row (I was up to 7 once), it's an impressive feat, both in how it makes you feel and in watching your character execute these amazing almost-Matrix-style dodges. The fact that starting the game, continuing from one fight to the next, restarting, etc, all happens without any load screens or even a camera shift is also really cool. This game has done a really great job executing its visual flair, and I would hope other major fighting game developers take note and incorporate some of these awesome aspects into their own games. Where it doesn't stand up is that the content is incredibly small. There are basically 3 (or sometimes 4) bad guys to fight, and then you repeat it with an added difficulty. Even from the beginning your attacks hurt your opponents far less than they hurt you, so…

The game is good, but especially the early-game progression is slightly wonky. First, the game doesn't really let you get the hang of the mechanics. First dude, some random jackass on the streets with his fists. Second dude, a ninja 30 years in training that can kill you in 5 hits. I would like a bit more getting used to the controls before the big fight. The tutorial is kinda bad. It just stops all combat and goes "hey dude read this" it would go so far to just have a popup on the side that just says "press right click to dodge attacks" instead of big popup that pauses the game and kills everything. The game is great, the animations are top tier and the graphics are okay. Just how I like it. These are really the only changes I want made. There probably is more but I haven't finished the game yet.
