Like the previous books, I only finished this one out of sunk cost stubbornness after missing the 14-day refund window. Half of the game is just saccharine hurt/comfort scenes, and the constant insistence that these people are "like family" still rings completely hollow to me. There's no actual chemistry or earned bonds, just the narrative telling me how I should feel about the characters and their relationships. The game also keeps deciding what my character is thinking and feeling, which has been annoying throughout the series but feels especially grating when those forced emotions are all about the artificial relationships the story is trying so hard to sell. Beyond that, it's just dull. The entire book spans just two days, and they're not even action-packed days either; it's mostly just a lot of sitting around having feelings about things. The ending is pretty abrupt too, though honestly I was so bored by that point that I can't say I cared much. Someone who had been enjoying the series might find it disappointing, but personally I was just relieved to finally be done with it. I won't be picking up any future books.9 found this helpful
I really enjoyed it, I think the pacing and size fit the story progression up till now. The author is also a genuinely good person, always on time with updates/rewards and open about what she's doing. Looking forward to the next one!2 found this helpful
What a wild ride my MC's journey has been, dear Lord... The first two games had us running up and down, escaping death by the skin of our teeth, trying to understand what in the world is happening based on crumbs of information pieced together from here and there, the mess of our MC's life paralleled and, dare I say, surpassed by the out-of-this-world characters we met along the way. I cried, I laughed, I got thirsty and spooked out and by the end game 2 I was exhausted. And of course this was all planned because the writer, like the little gremlin that she is, made sure that we can get some well-deserved rest in book 3! A nice bath and a warm meal! A couple of drinks with friends! Some good, deep sleep! And some heart-wrenching revelations about a beloved friend... And some deeper understanding of the passenger inside our head... And the most intimate picnic that could have ever been imagined... And a nail-biting heist that created as many questions as provided answers... And a crazed lunatic who somehow seems to be super important... And a FREAKING EPIC SNAKE/DRAGON BATTLE. The way I see it, Morgan outdid herself with this one I don't know how she does this. And somehow her writi…2 found this helpful
Cool. Continues the romances, adds a couple more. Felt slightly shorter per route than the previous games, might be because of all the branching. My only gripe is the voting for joining the Resistance. I said no, so why is this a majority thing? You don't support a cause you don't believe in just because your friends do. Frankly, they don't really have much of a reason - aside from opposing Manerkol because he wants them for their Stones (for what seems like a fundamentally good cause, might I add), Manerkol wasn't shown as a bad ruler, he actually comes across as a hero that did and does what is necessary.2 found this helpful
Not me getting emotionally wrecked over pixelated people falling in love 😭💅 This game said “feelings > actions” and I’m not mad. I'm LIVING for it in fact 🩷 The plot has me by the throat, I'm ready for whatever twisty turn is coming.2 found this helpful
