About The Tau Ceti Terminus
In this VR only game, you will solve a wide range of challenges, encounter various lifeforms, and deal with technology of unknown origin. As you play you may uncover a tale of woe from years gone by. Luckily, it won't affect you, probably.
Set over 100 years in the future, humanity has just started to explore the stars. Using large Space Exploration Vessels (SEV) we have established a colony at Epsilon Eridani and the SEV Intrepid has has just arrived at Tau Ceti, planet j. One of the earth sized moons around Tau Ceti j seems to be capable of supporting life.
You are a new Lt. in the Planetary Survey Corps. The corps collects data on planets and does the first manned landing and exploration. It is one of the more interesting jobs on the Intrepid.
Today is an exciting day. Geologists can't explain an anomaly on the satellite images and have requested a surface investigation. Your first solo survey. Take planetary landing craft 118 down and investigate the area. Should be a milk run.
But it wasn't. You are waking up hurt and confused after a depressurization event on your landing craft. It auto-landed, but just barely. Any immediate help from the Intrepid is unlikely, they may not even know where you are. Even if they do it'll be hours before a rescue can be planned. Survival point procedures, survey the damage, repair what you can, carry out your mission.
Remember, you are on your own. You will have to identify and solve problems, avoid danger and carry out your mission. Don't get yourself into a pickle. Here's the deal:

- VR - Best in room-scale. Uses open VR and tested with VIVE, Oculus, and WMR. Application button toggles window for instant controller help and hints. Supports teleport, glide, comfort glide, and rotation using thumbstick or trackpad as defined in the user settings. You can walk up and down hills, step on obstacles, fall (or jump) off cliffs. User settings allow items to be picked up using the trigger or grip. Seated play is available while using glide on one controller.
- Health - If you get hurt, health points return, but slowly. Death sneaks up on you, take care. There is a health and environmental monitor on your left hand.
- Difficulty Level - There are three difficulty levels that affect puzzles, items, and health. On the EASY level puzzles are considerably reduced in complexity, you take less damage. The MEDIUM level is no cake walk and presents a good challenge on all fronts. The HARD level, well if you are looking for the maximum dopamine hit, this level's for you.
- Saving - Each game is identified by a mission name. Every time you return to the main menu scene, the mission is saved. Under some circumstances the game is saved automatically as well. If you've gotten yourself in the aforementioned pickle, you can just return to a saved point in the mission and re-start from there.
- Length - Estimated play time is 10-12 hrs.
ENVIRONMENT
We like a little science in our science fiction. You play in a realistic and scientifically accurate environment including:
- Day / Night Cycles - Nighttime? Nah it'll be fine.
- Gravity - Things fall faster or slower, either way it's taken into account.
- Atmospheric Pressure - In space no one can hear you scream, in low pressure they can though. Feel better?
- Temperature Changes - See that blue creeping in from the edge, that's a problem.
- Orbital Mechanics - Know what a Hohmann transfer orbit is? Pretty sure you will by the end of this game.
- Astronomical Spectroscopy - They will never believe you back home unless you get some readings.
- Star Locations/Sizes/Colors - Star-maps, ever wonder where the stars are in 3 dimensions?

I'm not sure what 'The Tau Ceti Terminus' was trying to do, but it is clearly not ready to publish. You start off in a ship with something broke. It doesn't tell you what, it doesn't tell you how to fix it and it doesn't give any indication of where your £15.49 has gone. All I do know for sure is that this game, or app or whatever it is needs some serious work before it is worth even a fraction of its current price. Until this game gets some clues as to what to do and way more spit and polish I suggest you stay well clear of it. I will be getting a refund for now, but maybe it will grow with time.7 found this helpful
The Tau Ceti Terminus is an adventure, space sci-fi, puzzle VR game, with some combat and survival worked in. You are a new Planetary Surveyor for a large corporation. You will be the first human contact and new alien worlds, to survey them for supporting life and research. This is our first solo job. This will be a great job everyone said. Get outside more, see new alien planets, see new wild life, find exotic locations, snap a few pictures. What could go wrong? Turns out everything. Our ship crash lands onto the planet and is damaged. We have no training on repairing the ship, and next to no supplies for this mission. The game will have you solving puzzles and doing repairs on your ship, with barley nothing to work with and no one to guide you. The adventure will have you explore the alien world, uncover its past and complete your mission. You will have to defend your self time to time as well from the wild life on the planet. The puzzles can be very challenging, but the answer are there if you really look. I enjoyed the puzzles and ship repair, it all felt very space sci-fi themed. The combat on the other hand felt kind of weak, but I think the game is more based on explo…3 found this helpful
Beta tester. This is a thinking persons game. If you ever wonder how you would handle crash landing on a alien planet with only a few meager supplies and your wits to relied on this game is for you.2 found this helpful
I played this VR game while spending a weekend with a friend - I do not own a VR setup. Admittingly I am a bit of an old-school gamer (I prefer strategy/thinky games over FPS and the like), but I really enjoyed playing TCT. While the detail of the artwork is sorta basic by today's standards, the overall artistic feel, gameplay, soundtrack, and VR-world (new to me) creates an outstanding, eerily-immersive experience. This is a solve-the-problem style game, and in my short experience is not an easy solve. I played for 3-4 hours over two days (not my original intention while visiting my friend), but during that time I experienced being stumped, solving a couple problems, fighting a creature on the planet surface, and destroying numerous ships trying to manually land them on a spinning space station (not as easy as it sounds). If I ever get around to getting a VR setup, I hope more games like this are produced/available.1 found this helpful
