About The Vanishing
In The Vanishing, you enter an abandoned town shrouded in mystery, a place where time itself seems to have stopped. Once a thriving community, the town is now eerily silent, with crumbling buildings, deserted streets, and a dark history buried deep beneath the surface.
Your journey begins with a single question: what caused the town’s sudden demise? As you explore the empty houses, forgotten diaries, and hidden corners, you uncover a chilling secret. Years ago, during the final days of the local mine’s operation, the miners discovered ancient ruins and unearthed a body—an enigmatic woman, preserved beyond the reach of time. Her spirit, filled with rage and sorrow, has awakened and now haunts the empty town, seeking vengeance for the wrongs done to her in life.
You must navigate through the town’s ghostly streets, decipher cryptic clues, and confront the spirit that lingers in the shadows. Solve puzzles, unlock secrets, and piece together the story of what truly happened. As you delve deeper into the mystery, you’ll realize that the town is not as empty as it seems, and that the spirit won’t rest until every trace of life has vanished.
Will you be able to uncover the truth and put the spirit to rest, or will you become the next victim in The Vanishing?

Well, that was terrible. I'm a huge fan of horror walking sims, and with a price of free-ninety-nine I couldn't resist giving this one a download. I knew going into it that this game was short (twenty minutes or less), but I'd really like my twenty minutes back now. The premise is solid enough: an abandoned town haunted by a creepy ghost and you're tasked with finding all of the diary entries to put the real story together. Unfortunately, the diary entries are sparse and the spooky ghost has all of three haunt animations that repeat alongside flickering lights. The end is a complete cop out and the only achievement is bugged, so you don't even have a shiny badge to show off for putting up with this "game". Keep your twenty minutes to yourself and give this one a skip.
Played on SteamDeck ran ok but the game is atrociously bad wouldn’t even let me turn down the speed of movement which was all over the place. Waste of downloading…cheap “ horror “ jump scares etc loads of crap splattered about the “ map “ which is disjointed. Can’t recommend to anyone
It's...fine. Nothing too egregious but nothing noteworthy either. It's free an it's short so I won't say not to give it a go, but don't...expect much.
Warning: Asset Flip! "The Vanishing" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This is yet another collection of Unreal Marketplace assets dumped on a first person adventure game blueprint, badly. This happens a lot on Steam, there's literally hundreds of these amateur asset flips, some malicious (I don't think this one is), but they're all bad. This is a schizophrenic collection of assets where you walk through various spooky town/abandoned mine assets (I'm kind of tired of seeing the mineshaft asset pack all the time, it's like Groundhog Day with these asset flippers). There was an attempt to shove in some puzzles using the game blueprint, but none of the assets are used well, it's an ugly Frankenstein's Monster of a flip. So, "The Vanishing" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset fl…
Nice story and atmosphere, Enjoyed finding notes that told the story about what happened. The chase scenes could of been done better, but for free game not complaining. https://youtu.be/ZG1Wuv9L9_M
