The Wonderful 101: Remastered

Wonderful idea, poorly executed. Most of the time you will be fighitng with the controls and camera, and being absolutely bombarded with information in every moment. The presentation and style is fantastic, but your enjoyment may hinge on how willing you are to learn the ins and outs of the battle system and drawing. The original game did use a touchscreen and that might be why it's challenging to use on a regular controller.

in a way this is the anti-W*lverine (or majority of modern day cinematic action game) sometimes the game just leave you completely in the dark and not tell you what to do or where to go. "Oh you platform is crumbling apart and you didn't see the other platform at the corner of the screen? tough luck buddy, you're falling. no we're not gonna give you arrows or trails or yellow paint, ♥♥♥♥♥. " "oh you can't figure out this puzzle? yeah tough luck buddy, maybe next time get a working brain." "oh you didn't understand you're supposed to do this from our small hint? tough luck, you get hit hard, maybe multiple times cause when you barely recover and able to move your invincibility is gone already, your buddies are still knocked out so you can't do long dodges." "oh forgot to mention, hope you like it when the game completely change genre into shoot em up (with instant death) and punch out!" and after all that messing up across the stage, at the end it will give you a crappy participation trophy, basically the devs saying to your face "yeah we gave you a trophy, but this doesn't mean you're good. in fact, you were TERRIBLE at video games. Man you're such a loser."

very easy to tell it was a Wii U game, but it's still great

Man, I cant recommend this game. I understand it was super unique and impactful for its time to a certain group of its people. Its art style and story seems fun. But its age, display limitations, and its UI to actually play the game is so bad it literally made me quit playing.

A cult classic from the Wii U. This game was slept on but it is one of the best from Platinum, when it was still a fresh studio chock full of legendary industry talent. This is an action game but it plays like nothing else before or since. Instead of a single powerful hero you have a full team who unite to create powerful attacks. You switch "weapons" by drawing shapes with the right analog stick. This takes a while to get used to, although if you ever played Street Fighter then the inputs should feel familiar to you. The action is great, there's a ton of layers of mechanics that interplay well. If you spend the time to learn the systems you will be greatly rewarded. Although this is a linear single player game, there is a lot to discover. Each level is full of secrets and collectables. Replays on higher difficulties in New Game + will be very rewarding as well. The general vibe is Power Rangers meets Gurren Lagaan. If that sounds like something you like, then please check this game out.
