About THIEF'S SHELTER
THIEF’S SHELTER is a psychological adventure where the world mirrors a crumbling mind. Nothing stays still, and even your own thoughts can’t be trusted.THIEF'S SHELTER unearths buried trauma, twisted ambitions, and the inhuman forces pulling the strings behind it all. Your investigation is intertwined with Detective James' personal struggles, such as the artificial dementia along with its effects. You will fight James’ deteriorating mental state, experience hallucinations, and confront his repressed memories. Explore Highburn Mansion that distorts as you progress, search for clues and use investigative tools to reveal secrets hidden in plain sight. The deeper you dig, the less you know what’s real. Is there a supernatural presence inside the mansion — or is it all in your head?Birmingham, England. Corruption within the English police force, along with the rampant activity of street gangs constantly disrupts the entire nation. The Red Order, once renowned as an anti-crime organisation dating back centuries, now prospers in England as the dominant provider of health products. However, beneath this façade lies a sinister secret. After his relocation to Birmingham, Detective James is summoned to aid the investigation of a curious homicide on Highburn Street. Despite the impact of his artificial dementia, and being haunted by a demon, James dives deep into an investigation that ultimately makes his condition deteriorate.
Highburn Mansion changes as your investigation progresses. As you push forward, old hallways lead to new places, doors bleed through walls, and whole rooms slide into view. This place doesn’t want you here. It will assault your senses, show you things that shouldn’t exist. Dredge up memories you tried so hard to bury. Wallpaper peels like skin. Bodies flicker above the table. Do you feel someone watching?Certain discoveries don’t surface the first time.
Or the second. Not everything in THIEF'S SHELTER will reveal itself in one playthrough. VHS tapes, Masks, Red Order conspiracies, James’ past, and other events can be missed on your first try.
That means you’ll go through a full journey — seeing and doing “everything” — but with the trade-off that some answers will remain out of reach, along with certain pieces of hidden content. One of the best-kept secrets lies in the alternative ending, which offers deeper insight for those who seek it.Whether you play once or a hundred times, THIEF’S SHELTER is designed to keep giving — with new details, theories, and discoveries waiting to be found. You may not uncover something new every time, but that’s part of the mystery — each playthrough invites you to look deeper and connect the pieces in new ways. For players who enjoy connecting clues, taking notes, and forming new conclusions, the game encourages community discussion — where discoveries and interpretations continue to evolve together. You should know going in that some things are meant to stay hidden — maybe found months later, a year later, or never at all.
The constant truth is that you’ll never have all the answers… but you can achieve a clearer understanding than someone who only experienced the surface — and that’s your true reward.

This game has a lot to offer for the price of $9.99. The story was very compelling, and convinced me to play through all of the endings that this game has to offer and eventually 100% the game. The gameplay was decent, keeping me engaged but still feeling faithful to the point and click genre. Yes, this is a 3D point and click, psychological horror game with demons (done in a way that didn't make me throw my Bible at the screen.) If any of those words jumped out to you, this game is probably for you. This game is also not that that scary. As someone who sweats profusely playing horror games, there was definitely a lot of sweat generation, but I didn't generate any other bodily fluids while playing, which I think is a good thing (depending on the person I guess.) The voice-acting was personally one of my favorite parts of the game, leaving me with a warm impression of the protagonist: James. Combined with the music, which eventually got stuck in my head, I looked forward to loading Thief's Shelter back up from time to time. Can't wait to see what else comes from this world. The engineers, musicians, voice-actors, and story-writer/Creator Dimitris all have a bright future…
No mouse invert
The unusual point-and-click interface doesn’t take long to get used to; it’s the game design itself that limits the experience. Many times I wanted to go places I couldn’t or look at items I couldn’t pick up for no apparent reason. And that’s a shame, because the story here is intriguing enough to keep you going, and the old mansion environments look excellent in the dim, eerie lighting. I had a lot of fun figuring out the puzzles and only wish there were more of them. At times I felt like a real sleuth searching for clues to solve the mystery behind Thomas Malcott’s death and its connection to the mysterious Red Order seemingly behind it all, though I never really had to put two and two together myself in solving the actual mystery. It seems there are still some secrets left hidden on Highburn Street, but while "Thief’s Shelter" is a solidly enjoyable game, after two playthroughs I’ll leave it to more persistent completionists to seek further shelter at this feverish Birmingham mansion. https://adventuregamehotspot.com/review/5402/thiefs-shelter
Very nice plot. It is extremely atmospheric. Environment and music is an great combination. Like the riddles too. Great game.
This game is so painfully slow. Menus are either mouse activated or keyboard- we won't tell you which! This IS NOT true 3rd person navigation- meaning you cannot move freely. There are 'waypoints' that you click on, hopefully in the direction you actually want to go.. Why do I have to go right around the table in order to turn to the left? There is barely anything to interact with, voice acting sounds as though the VA's had just woken up. There is absolutely no hook. None. Got this on sale. Still not worth it.
Thief's Shelter relies upon a methodical approach to environmental storytelling, placing the player in the role of a detective uncovering buried family secrets. Utilising specialised tools such as a UV light and a camera, one must meticulously scan abandoned rooms to reveal hidden ghosts or cryptic clues long left behind. Navigating the mansion through rigid point-and-click traversal spots feels initially restrictive, demanding an adjustment to the developer's specific movement logic. Finding the correct hotspots to transition between areas often creates unnecessary friction, yet the satisfaction of solving intricate gear rotation puzzles eventually justifies the need for such precise spatial orientation. Hallucinations and sanity mechanics inject a surreal, trippy filter into the dreary halls, successfully heightening the lingering sense of unease. These shifting visual layers complement the eerie soundscape, allowing the narrative to build suspense through subtle environmental cues rather than relying on the predictable tension of frequent jump scares. Reading dense in-game documentation becomes remarkably accessible thanks to a dedicated text toggle that prevents eye strain. …
