Tile Tale (2022)

Tile Tale is a compact, systems-driven puzzle game that showcases Sokpop Collective’s fondness for distilled ideas and emergent interactions. Rather than presenting a traditional story or a sprawling set of objectives, the game asks players to engage with a simple grid and a limited supply of tiles, then discover depth through placement, timing, and the cascading consequences of small decisions. It is a game that reveals itself gradually, rewarding curiosity and experimentation over mastery of complex rules. The central mechanic revolves around placing tiles onto a grid to form meaningful groupings. Creating specific patterns—most notably clusters of identical tiles—generates points and replenishes your supply, establishing a feedback loop where smart placement fuels further possibilities. This loop is immediately understandable but surprisingly subtle, as inefficient placements can quickly exhaust your options while thoughtful planning can create chains of renewal that keep the board alive. Very unpolished and badly balanced, progress is not saved properly, the game mecahnics do not work well and it is repetitive within ten minutes of gameplay. Ought to be avoided.

Fab little game, starts easy and gets trickier as things progress. Definitely a "just sit and relax" game

Idk I kind of like the game, the graphics, sound effects and mecahnics are cool. But I also got upset about all kinds of little things. Felt like it was really difficult to progress tech trees as more tile types immideatly meant a lot more danger to run out of tiles. Also the 12-combo tile didn't get unlocked after I successfully managed the combo but ended the game with the door button instead of running out of tiles :(((( The little slimes that drop from evil slimes are also really tedious and annoying.

Another absolute banger by Sokpop. I swear these devs live in my brain and create games just to make it vibrate with excitement. The premise is rather simple: add tiles, make squares, don't run out of tiles - but you just keep going.
