About Tile Lands

Tile Lands is a minimalist, City Building strategy game about managing and optimising buildings using a limited deck of tiles. Enjoy Tile Lands as a peaceful escape to your own minimalist town, enjoying the tranquility of organising neat districts and maintaining optimal building distribution. For those wishing to embrace the challenge, Tile Lands provides a focus on hitting high scores - pay attention to the requirements of your buildings and place tiles strategically to best optimise your town.

GAMEPLAY

In Tile Lands, you play tiles onto a finite grid of spaces from your procedurally generated deck. Tiles can be placed onto the grid either adjacent to a tile already on the grid, or as a replacement for a tile already on the grid. Placing a tile onto another tile of the same type will clear that space. Placing tiles will score points depending on how well you satisfy the conditions of that tile. Once you gather enough points, you'll be given a choice of Tile Packs to add new tiles to your deck - the game is over when you run out of tiles.

Tile Lands is a slightly different "city builder" game in the sense that you're not really building a city or anything that really stays Your goal is to net the most points by strategically placing tiles that will upgrade and earn you passive points at the end of each turn. You constantly replace tiles you've laid, sometimes only the turn before, because it awards the most points due to what's nearby. The tiles are basically different types of environment, industry, or barbarian related. There's tiles like towns that can upgrade to cities, lumbermills that collect wood from nearby forests that can produce factory tiles (right click to spend what has been gathered on tiles), marshland and fishing villages produced by surrounding a tile with ocean, etc. It took me a while to get the hang of game play but now I'm really understanding it and focusing less about how the grid looks and more about the proximity points, passive points, and upgrades. Excellent replayability and harder than you think, in a good way.

I think this game needs work to be finished. the game loop is boring. you start the without proper tutorial or something that teaches you how the game works, and it goes for endless and no other mode. I think being a roguelike or having levels or any target or aim at all would have helped the game, it's hard to hone your skills or learn the game because it is so unappealing and aimless. got bored after hour or two and was disappointed, I guess that what you get for this price, but still.

The idea is really good, but I'm not a big fan of the execution. Some features are a bit confusing and too advanced, like upgrading and evolving. And the game isn't polished, there are a lot of quality of life problems that make gameplay a bit annoying and more repetitive than it could/should be.

Relaxing get-as-many-points game, still new tiles to explore even after hours of playtime
