Tower of the Dragon

To start off, the battle system is a pretty classic turn-based combat style, nothing special. The enemies surprisingly have a decent amount of variation, and you can make battles significantly easier if you learn the intended strategy to defeat them. It doesn't feel like any battles were wasted, but some of the individual battles drag out longer than they need to be. The dialogue also drags at certain parts, but the story is coherent and fleshed-out enough that It doesn't feel bad to go through it. Despite my minor nitpicks with the game, it has neat little plot twists, charming characters that aren't one-dimensional, and a very nice conclusion to a story miles ahead of the average free game on Steam. FYI english is not supported. 9/10

"Tower of the Dragon" is a poorly made RPG Maker construction kit job... the Korean "developer" just filled out and rearranged stuff using the construction kit, using the drag and drop map editor and not really being a game developer. RPG Maker is a terrible construction kit that never results in products of acceptable quality for PC gamers, and this is no exception. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics, although there's a bit of cover art for the badly written visual novel components (that looks like it would have been done with a character art generator). It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed …
