Oh boy, this game is a bit of a mess, and really hard to review, so hard in fact, it took me over 10 days to do it. (Sorry for my inactivity btw) Let's get to it, Vanquish: The Adventures of Lady Exton (That's a mouthful) it's a platformer that needs some serious polish and better coding, because, as I played it, I found it a mess. I hate platformers, but I can admit that the Marios and the Megamans are some really good games, but this one is just... You play as Madam Lady Exton, a beautiful woman living in a steampunk era, who mysteriously wakes up in a cell, after the two seconds it took to break out, she finds that her parasol has a gun, which isn't strong enough to kill anything, and that it's her duty to... to... to what? I must've missed the story, because I haven't found any, Exton is just killing innocent annoying robots and that's it, after 10 levels there's an underwhelming boss, and between that you go through underwhelming levels. Obviously, it's a platformer, you jump on platforms, and you shoot thingies until you reach the end of the level, quite simple, so how do you screw this up? By programming it in under two hours, the controls are floaty, it seems like an ice …22 found this helpful
Great Game! In the beginning I found it quite challenging, but once I got a feeling for the controls it became easier. Its still a hard game though, I died a million times before I made it to the first Boss. The Artwork, especially the Enemie design is realy good! Havent played far past the first boss (which looks awsome)(and again took me quite a while to get there) but I hope there are more cool enemies ahead. So I can recommend this game to everybody looking for a not-too-easy Jump 'n' Run with a realy nice look and feel to it! Btw: I had some troubles with my controls via Keyboard when I first played, but it got fixed quickly! So thank You for that :)6 found this helpful
Fast gameplay, the dash move is cool and made some trick shots in certain levels. The game design is colourful and frequently changing and the fancy lady protagonist is a nice touch. Would recommend to platformer fans5 found this helpful

This is yet another 2D platformer infesting the Steam marketplace. Kudos to the developers for not going down the incredibly lazy, overdone retro-pixel artwork path. Instead they've chosen retro cartoonish graphics (think of any of the Cartoon Network stylised cartoons in recent years using 1950's/60's styles). So at least the appearance of the game isn't terrible, if simplistic. The problem is that's the limit of imagination when it comes to the design of this game. It's a very, very mediocre 2D platformer. Your character is essentially Peach with a gun-brella. The controls are tolerable but not great. The gameplay is a snoozefest. With so many lazy platformers glutting the marketplace, there's no outstanding reason this game deserves a recommendation. Edit: I now understand why this is so poor in general quality... it's ported from iOS by greedy devs who think PC gamers should be gouged extra money for the privilege of pretending their gaming rigs are mobile phones. Screw those guys. Mobile trash does not belong on Steam.2 found this helpful
