About VolChaos

Volchaos is an ultra-challenging old school platformer. As a nameless explorer, you must navigate through dangerous volcanoes in search of precious gems you can use to pay off your mortgage, bad investments, and alimony. To further complicate matters, the lava is continuously rising and an array of enemies stands in your path. Will you become rich? Heck, you will be lucky to survive.

Morlan's shorts:

The graphics are below basic, the music is 1-2 loops and very repetitive. But.. the gameplay? It's a run-get blip-race to flag game, with the bare minimum "environment". Lava comes up, you die, don't hit baddies. There's a black&white hard(er) mode where lava raises faster. The main problem is inconsistency, in general.. You can hit a baddie because it popped up a couple of milliseconds before or you miss it because the same baddie, after spawn, dropped to the lava! There are also some issues with handling/keyboard, sometimes it doesn't register jumps (at the beginning, must be some buffer problem). Not a fan of "speedrunning" but just wanted to make ONE top highscore (which I did, actually a couple of them, first on level 1) and I realised that the game has been through at least 3 different versions and now the leaderboard is so messed up from entries who played previous versions (where the character can run faster at certain conditions) that there's not much point if you're a fan of that kind of challenge. Furthermore some levels (at least level 13) are unbeatable with the latest version. You just can't outrun the lava. And that'…

VolChaos, developed and published by Fun Infused Games, is a tough-as-nails retro platformer that proudly wears its old-school influences on its sleeve. It’s a game that invites you into a deceptively simple volcanic labyrinth, hands you a jump button, and then immediately begins testing your patience, timing, and resolve. There is no complex story or elaborate premise—only a lone adventurer trapped inside a volcanic cave system that’s collapsing into molten chaos. Your goal is to survive the rising tide of lava, collect scattered gems, and reach the exit of each stage. What sounds like a straightforward arcade challenge quickly reveals itself to be an exercise in precision platforming and pure persistence, a spiritual descendant of the punishing action games of the 1980s and early 1990s. From the very first level, VolChaos establishes its identity as a brutally difficult experience that refuses to hold your hand. The platform layouts are tight and unforgiving, with small ledges, disappearing blocks, and erratically timed hazards forcing players to react quickly and accurately. There is a constant sense of pressure because the lava below is always rising—slowly at first, then with…
