I hate to be so negative about such a small game, but... what the HECK kinda story is that? If you're going to try and infuse your hidden object game with lore and a story, maybe you should actually run with it instead of ending it [spoiler]SO abruptly with potential MURDER[/spoiler]? Aside from THAT... the game is fine I guess. I hate giving it a thumbs down, but I can't bring myself to give it a thumbs up. The gameplay itself is fine and I enjoyed the puzzles, but the devs really shot themselves in the foot with how they chose to conclude their game... really ruined the whole thing :')

It's a venerable 10 years old at the time of this review. "Voodoo Whisperer Curse of a Legend" is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a historial/mystery theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. This one felt even more fitting for the Spooky Season, which was really lovely. Set in 19th-century New Orleans, we play as a young girl named Lillian, who is being mentored to use her magical abilities by Marie Laveau, the most powerful voodoo priestess around. However, as we are being taught, an evil and mysterious curse is set upon the entire town, putting each person into a deep sleep-like state and trapping their souls in the spirit world. It’s up to us to save everyone before everything becomes lost in darkness. Throughout our adventure, we will learn spells and create potions that will help with a variety of tasks, from getting objects to returning people’s souls and much more.
