VR Archery

VR Archery is a VR archery game that was free at release and will be sold later. It did Not work on my HTC Vive system. Runs on the desktop only while i had launched it from SteamVR Home or the Play button on store page. Game was made only for Oculus Rift, and the dev said Valve Index and HTC Vive was Supported according to steam store page. Does Not work on Index also. Maybe if you have a Oculus Rift or Quest, try this game. But don't bother downloading or Buying this, if you don't have Oculus (Meta) gear.

This game has potential. This feels like a very early demo or beta though. The models and lighting look like something out of the early to mid 2000s. But I can't really fault the dev too much for this as it looks like it's just one person or a very small team, and those things are easy to look past. The biggest things holding this game back are simply quality of life things. When you launch the game, it opens a desktop window on which you need to click a button to start the VR portion. Most VR users start SteamVR and then launch games from the UI inside the headset. This requires using an overlay or navigating to one's computer or taking off the headset to fully launch it...which is very inconvenient. After that, there are some small gameplay issues. This is mostly with operating the bow. First, you have to bring your hands together to place an arrow and draw back. The range for this is pretty narrow though, and I found myself accidentally clacking my expensive controllers together. The more they clack, the more likely they are to break. And I don't really want that to happen. Second, and probably most annoying, when I pull back the arrow, it is very frequently loosed before…

Samsung Odyssey plus: Used to work fine until last update. Now it won't load.

It's fun enough to keep it, but it's not archery. The aim of the bow is determined entirely by the position of one hand. You can draw to your chest and then shoot 90 degrees to the left or right with just a flick of the wrist. This might be acceptable for something like Skyrim that had VR tacked on as an afterthought, but for a game where the entire purpose is to be an archery range? Valve's "Lab" VR sampler has a more realistic archery game, sorry. I'll check back periodically, if it ever starts shooting like a bow instead of a weird pistol then it'll definitely be a recommend.
