Yule spirits (IN MAY?!) ruined the game for me. I'm at the very beginning of the game trying to figure out how everything works, familiarize myself with the game loop, mechanics, and terminology, and the frequency of yule spirits showing up and taking things is incredibly frustrating. The in game description says I need a song potion to drive them away, but I JUST STARTED THE GAME with no idea how to make anything other than the two starter veil recipes! This entire experience was frustrating. I barely dipped my toes into the alchemy side of the game which was the whole point of getting it in the first place because of these frustrations. Lacking an option to disable these negative events and npcs I do not recommend this game.

Enjoyable for the first 7-10 hours and then the slog starts to set in. There are some things that can be automated but they are few and in large unimportant. The game is pretty much a long grind after the first 5 hours of rapid progress. There are so many ingredients that are a pain to acquire and progress very rarely give you anything interesting or new. You just keep getting upgrades for the same 5 buildings over and over and over again. Besides the fact that there are no cognitive challenge it is also full of bugs. I have rarely played a game with so many bugs, I've had to restart the game atleast twice due to gamebreaking bugs. Its usually alright since the progress lost is miniscule if any but its still annoying. The bigger issue is that I've now hit a bug that hardlocks me out of progression. My run is over and I can't do anything about it

Yuletide spirit ruins the game. You can't beat it at the time it appears (or if you can it's not in anyway obvious how to do it without dedicating the entire run or I assume cheesing it by knowing the potions in advance). I don't mind a challenge. I do mind a 'bit of fun' ruining the progress of a game because the developer didn't think things through.

I've been enjoying myself; have spent a large amount of time just potioning along. :) This takes the same sort of swing at things as Cultist Simulator, but without the crazy hidden lore. That is both a positive and a negative - there is no interesting crazy hidden lore (sad), but you also aren't bound to figuring out the crazy hidden lore in order to advance (relief!). You objective as an Alchemist is (as you might guess) alchemy. So far in my run, this has meant a lot of making potions and all of the steps leading up to that - sending out adventurers to gather potions (don't risk your own skin!), processing those ingredients, and then building up stock. If the goal was truly stated, I don't recall it - this has left things vague beyond "take over for dead granny and advance and discover more". That the goal is vague, though, feels appropriate for something as vague as alchemy, and hasn't negatively impacted my enjoyment of the game. I know there's more to figure out, and I'm working towards that, and that's enough. Recipes can be hint-and-trial-and-errored, or can be obtained through sending adventurers to gather recipes. If you can keep the adventurers alive, th…

Stacklands’ RPG overhaul. Btw, ascension tree needs more love, clarification and above all related main quests. I got 70% of achievements without touching it.

I want to love this game, it scratches the Cultist Simulator style of game very well. But it hits a flaw that cultist sim didnt in two needed resources being very very hard to initial grab, alongside punishing the acquirement of those in being both lost, and compounding doom. The two items in question are breaths of death and animal corpses. If you could find either at the forest, great, problem solved. But at the moment, its far too easy to get into a lose/lose as time goes on. Unlike CS, where investigators only found the matter of guilt if you had done something, and you had the means to hide evidence early. Here, its an escalating cost that just isnt worth it, and there are two checks against it in the tax collector preventing wealth acquirement. So its a painful, slow grind in the bad way, instead of being intuitive. Doesnt help you cant progress the middle path on things to go further despite progressive potion for it. So hit a game breaking bug there.
