Ways of Alchemy

This is a really neat game. In the veign of cultist simulator which is one of my all time favourites. And at launch despite some bugs I'd call this a bit close to that game. Cultist simulator is still better though. So why am I not recommending the game? Well they added some updates that I originally liked until I started a new game. A winter holiday update in particular added some events that you just can't deal with at all at the start of the game. It sorta makes it really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to start from scratch right now, and this has been here since the start of the year so. Well who knows if it'll get patched. Just not a great experience right now. Real bummer as I enjoy the game and was looking forward to starting from scratch again after a long break.

like cultist but cosier. edit: After more time with the game I am very pleasantly surprised with how engaging it is. The loops is addicitve and rewarding, with a lot of secrets to discover. It is well written and provides a nice alternative to cultist simulator. I thought it was better than other copies like stacklands. The Yule spirits are really not much a problem at all and very easy to deal with, no idea why reviews complain so much about them.

I've been enjoying myself; have spent a large amount of time just potioning along. :) This takes the same sort of swing at things as Cultist Simulator, but without the crazy hidden lore. That is both a positive and a negative - there is no interesting crazy hidden lore (sad), but you also aren't bound to figuring out the crazy hidden lore in order to advance (relief!). You objective as an Alchemist is (as you might guess) alchemy. So far in my run, this has meant a lot of [i]making potions[/i] and all of the steps leading up to that - sending out adventurers to gather potions (don't risk your own skin!), processing those ingredients, and then building up stock. If the goal was truly stated, I don't recall it - this has left things vague beyond "take over for dead granny and advance and discover more". That the goal is vague, though, feels appropriate for something as vague as alchemy, and hasn't negatively impacted my enjoyment of the game. I know there's more to figure out, and I'm working towards that, and that's enough. Recipes can be hint-and-trial-and-errored, or can be obtained through sending adventurers to gather recipes. Further development seems to have been abandoned while game-breaking bugs still exist. Not worth your time.

❌❌❌ I expected a game about alchemy to be alchemically accurate, but this is clearly the work of an amateur that doesn't actually understand anything about it. Disappointed, and refunded.

Stacklands’ RPG overhaul. Btw, ascension tree needs more love, clarification and above all related main quests. I got 70% of achievements without touching it.
