About Wizabeasts
You encounter wild Wizabeasts when you feel like it. These Wizabeasts can be tamed by damaging them and downloading them with carts. There are many cool and/or cute Wizabeasts to meet! All Wizabeast species are viable in battle so you can pick your favourites! Elemental matchups and positioning your Wizabeasts are important aspects of battle. Wizabeasts share experience after battle even if they're knocked out, so you can focus on your winning strategy! Your party is fully healed after battle so you can keep your momentum after winning! That being said, you can enter battles with a health or magic handicap if you want extra challenge. You play as Nash, an ambitious commander who moved to Chademars to attend Oscar's Academy. Oscar's Academy is prestigious, but it costs $5,000,000 to attend!? Your student debt gets lowered with each victory against a champion, and is entirely forgiven if you graduate. Wizabeasts sets out to be a creature-collector/tactics hybrid, and while it succeeds pretty strongly at the former, it leaves something to be desired in the latter. As far as being a creature collector is concerned, you have a pretty strong variety of creatures (I wanna say it's at least 50, with 3 stages each + like 10 legendaries?), with no real generic throwaways (e.g. this is a bird, this is a rat, this is a slightly different bird). Pretty early on I saw creatures I wanted on my team, and there aren't any that seem just useless. Unfortunately a lot of the balance is due to movesets being very "samey". It's basically 3 tiers of physical and special attacks of each type. You can mix and match them on the creatures (you get a default set of 4 different elemental attacks each evolution also) but in the end it's pretty…14 found this helpful
The game has potential, but it really needs a lot of quality of life improvements. For example, the beasts are too small for the window, and their designs are too compact, to be able to easily tell what each one is. I've only played a small amount so far, but from what I've seen the combat maps leave a lot to be desired. The one map I've played on is just a flat plane. Later combat maps might have actual terrain and elevation, but I kind of doubt it. In combat, you can see what type any beast is when you target it, but you don't see how the types interact. The game displays different information about each move, but it's opaque and unhelpful. What is EFF? I dunno! The dialog is kind of stilted and awkward and really needs a good proofreader. Overall, the game isn't exactly bad. I'm just kinda bored.2 found this helpful
