About Wonder of Blue
Once upon a time, in a world not quite like our own, Liddell tumbled down the rabbit hole and found herself in a vivid and wondrous land where nothing was quite as it seems. There she encounters a mysterious pink cat named C.C. who accompanies her into the flowery White Willow. Adventure awaits her in the Labyrinth, and the Queen of Hearts anticipates her arrival.Evade attacks with a graceful Twirl and obtain new abilities from Treasure Chests in order to reach the depths of the Labyrinths. No two Labyrinths are the same when the terrain and treasures shift with each venture. Great adversaries dwell in this tale inspired by Alice in Wonderland.Casual Mode offers an easygoing experience where Labyrinths can be retried upon defeat whereas one misstep in Wanderlust Mode can send Liddell back to the very beginning of her journey. Wanderlust+ offers fixed layouts for a traditional dungeon crawler experience. Z: Confirm / AttackX: Cancel / Use ItemC: TwirlA: Item MenuS: Left SwapD: Right SwapEnter: Pause(Control bindings can be remapped in game for both keyboard and controller.) Twirl (C by default): Liddell performs a spinning pirouette that is able to evade attacks from enemies. This move can be used during Liddell's own attacks.Sprint (Keep C held down after a Twirl): Liddell enters a run state that is faster than her usual walk speed.Power Cut (Keep Z held down after an attack): Strength is concentrated into a single attack with more range and damage. Charge is lost upon getting hit.Use Item (X by default): Magic Points (MP) are used to perform a special attack with Liddell's current item. Use Left Swap and Right Swap (S and D by default) to switch between collected items.Guard Crush: Using a Power Cut or an Item against a shielded enemy will dispel their protection and leave them vulnerable to melee Attacks.
Each Treasure Chest in the Labyrinth offers 3 random items to choose between. These items offer unique abilities such as passive effects from Mementos and ranged special attacks from Suit Cards. Each Suit Card comes in a pack of 5 and they expend 1 bar of MP upon use. MP can be replenished by dealing melee damage to enemies.
Desserts and Royalty Cards provide valuable healing that can be used at any moment. Exploration items such as the map and compass unveil the Labyrinth so that more Treasure Chests can be found. Some of Liddell's inventory is lost upon defeat on Casual Mode, as well as half of the Gold she carries. Liddell can reclaim her lost Gold in any playthrough by reaching the floor which she was previously at. Certain Mementos can be repurchased from the Dream Journal once they are found for the first time.Progression elements are light and limited to the Dream Journal as well as the ability to reroll items. Little is kept between playthroughs beyond familiarity with the Labyrinth and the Soulslike challenge posed by bosses. Within the Settings Menu of the main menu is a unique feature that applies a palette of 4 colors onto the game to freshen up each playthrough. Choose between 19 different color palettes, including 4 retro palettes that are inspired by the familiar Game Boy. Along with this is an alternative 8-bit soundtrack to complement the pixel aesthetic.

Its a really cute game, i thought it would be a lighthearted, chill, cute, and comfy take on a deep dungeon style game with classic zelda type mechanics and a classic gameboy alice in wonderland aesthetic. It is almost this experience, but it is ruined by its difficulty. Even on its easy mode, its just way too unfair and unforgiving. Nothing like classic zelda. The difficulty kind of reminds me of poorly tuned classic NES games like Kick Master for example, where a really great aesthetic is ruined by difficulty that is not so much challenging and fun as it feels untuned and insulting to my intelligence. The controls are kind of wonky as well. Its so close to being something I would love and spend a lot of time on, but it just completely misses the mark for me in a big way unfortunately.3 found this helpful
Anyone not recommending this game is a big baby. You need to check your diaper, seriously. The controls are fine. Yes, it's hard. Hard does not mean a game is bad. It means you are bad. I am also bad. But I have played enough video games to know this is competently made. What I really like about it is that it has an inventory system. This is actually quite unique for this style of game. At any time you can open it and use consumables that do a few different things. Spells also have uses as well as a mana requirement, making the safe ranged options something to carefully consider. The enemy designs are varied and all quite threatening. I think these toddlers throwing their pacifiers at this game are upset because they want some sort of progression or God forbid MORE MECHANICS!!!!!!!!! PLEASE BLOAT THIS GAME I AM SO BORED!!!!! Grow up, infant. They were expecting every other painfully bloated roguelike where every time they get rocked they can get more hp before the next run. Sorry beeyotch, you are going to have to actually play the game this time... This is not your grandmas flavour of the week roguelite feelgood powerup baby powder gerber grow up plan. This is a man's gam…1 found this helpful
For this price - it's okay. Cutesy little rougelite that can be devilishly hard on anything above easy - bosses have a tendency of teleporting right on top of you and giving you barely any time to react and being huge damage sponges but the gameplay is pretty solid and doesn't get boring too quickly thanks to that difficulty level. Couple bugs here and there like doorways leading to nowhere or level sometimes spawning without any keys and you have to reload but nothing too gamebreaking. It's alright, nothing super special, but nothing too bad either, fun for a couple of hours of playtime.1 found this helpful
If you're into rougelikes with a hint of cuteness, you might like this. Just a heads up, this game is pretty challenging, which is why I chose the easy difficulty setting. I'm still in the middle of the game, but so far this game has been a lot more fun than I gave credit for.1 found this helpful
It's a good, fun, simple game. It leaves me with one burning question, though: WHY is this game 1.5GB in size on disk??? First of all the game looks like a Gameboy game and should only be like 100MB at most, but let's just ignore that. Let's look at some facts, not vibes (though, I agree with the vibes). The game when it's downloaded takes up the full 1.54GB of space (in what appears to be entirely Unity asset folders), but when it's downloading it only takes 271MB of network to download. This is roughly a 6x compression, meaning a lot of this space is probably wasted/zeroed out? I looked at the files installed on my system and the majority of the space seems to be taken by the assets for the game, which, given that everything is 16x16 or 32x32 PNGs, this seems ridiculous. Some similar games: The Binding of Isaac, a game this is clearly inspired from which is NOT pixel art, with I would assume more content, multiple expansions and expansions to the expansions, etc., only takes 600MB on disk after installation. Deltarune, another pixel-arty game that I picked because it purposefully is multi-medium and does way more than just pixel art, is only 900MB, and that game is pretty mas…
It's like Binding of Isaac, but not as good. I think the main problem is your attack. If you are too close to the enemy it doesn't do any damage, as the attack overshoots. This feels very awkward & unintuitive.
