XEL is a 3D action-adventure set in a sci-fi fantasy setting. Play as Reid, shipwrecked on the strange world of XEL. Without any recollection of her former life, it is up to you to unravel her past and connection to XEL. Ready your sword and shield as you explore the overworld of XEL and dive into imposing dungeons full of unforeseen threats and challenging puzzles. Throughout your journey you will make new friends and foes, find new gadgets as well as being able to jump through time and space. I'm supposed to head out into the wilds to look for stuff, but I've got no real indication of where to go. Back to the safe zone? Through the Gardens? Heck, if I get up and make a sandwich and forget what I was doing the game doesn't even have a method of checking your current quests. The writing is cringeworthy, combat is boring. It's a cool premise, the setting and everything, but this game just makes me want to sleep.2 found this helpful
If it weren't for a game breaking bug I maybe would have recommended this game. The graphics are pretty good, didn't have any issues there, and performance wise it ran well also. The dialogue at times seemed a bit childish/not very well written. It is fairly simple combat, but sometimes that's all you want/need. The one thing I wish was different was that you had the ability to jump yourself and it wasn't auto jump. The main reason I am saying not recommended is that I ran into a game breaking bug that had no work around or fix. When I respawned at a save point I was stuck falling through the ground and dying. If there had been more than one save slot/state, where I could have gone back a save this wouldn't have been as big an issue. Reading other reviews seems like game breaking bugs like this are very common, so I will have to say this is not recommended1 found this helpful
Unfortunately I just ran into a game breaking bug. I died against some fire dogs. Well my automatic save places me right where I died and I immediately die again. I load my last save and same thing. So I just lost all my progress and will have to start over if I want to continue. I was really enjoying the game but these are the things that make me stop and never come back.1 found this helpful
The game itself is ok, I want to like it, but it's full of bugs and glitches. I cannot finish the game because there are some rare items that I cannot find (I opened every chest in the game that I could), I cannnot upgrade and open the gate (science station). The game developer abandoned the game, there is no future update. Sorry, but It's hard to recomemend it to anyone.
Get this game at a good discount. Apart from clipping issues, there are a few game-breaking bugs at critical moments - take a look on the Internet on how to solve them. Usually restarting the game fixes things. Annoying, but not that much of a problem. The combat encounters with the regular enemies are really, really easy. The aesthetic and atmosphere (soundtrack included) are really cool and is what I love the most about the game. It truly is like an isometric XELda game :D The story is OK with a decent mystery and a few twists and turns. The banter between the characters ranges from really cute and realistic to just silly. I had fun with the base game and the DLC. The DLC has better puzzles than the base game and the biomes there are also cool.
This is a rough gem. The gameplay is fun and well-designed, good pacing and progression, beautiful visuals and sound. However, there are very noticeable bugs, such as falling through the map, camera going out of whack, etc. Still, the bugs were, in my case, resolved by restarting the game, so nothing game-breaking. Story is decent, dialogue is a bit cheesy. Overall, I really enjoyed it
