Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game. I think this game has more positive reviews than it deserves, and the reason why is simple. Players want to like this game. It does a lot of things right. The devs clearly put a lot of time and effort into the game, and it is pretty unique. However, the game has several flaws made it too frustrating to continue. I probably got about 40% of the way through the game. There are some great moments, but there are long periods of frustration and gratuitous gameplay that make it not worth sticking around. Platforming- This game has tons and tons of platforming in it. Basically every screen in every overworld area has different elevations of platforms that have items to collect on them. Unfortunately, the forced perspective of the camera makes it impossible to tell the heights of platforms at a glance. You cannot just look at the screen and determine if another platform is the same height as the one you are on, especially if the platform is south of you. This sounds like I need to get glasses, but it is true. You frequently have to stop and charge up your ranged attack to see if the reticle passes over platforms to see if you can jump on them.…1 found this helpful
Everything is just such a good vibe.
I have not finished this game but its already top 10 of all time for me. From the amazing story to the rewarding exploration and addictive combat, this is a once in a lifetime game of its genre.
Extremely well made, beautiful game with a novel premise. I did not enjoy playing it at all thanks to the characters, writing, plot, grinding, bloat and quest design but your mileage may vary.
I actually wanted to like the game, but I just can't get through the slog in-between. The concept for the game is fine and the trading system is kinda unique. But the enemies genuinely suck and the dungeons are long, so much so that I was getting tired trying to finish. Honestly the game is just kinda...not my thing for the most part.
So. Much. Padding The combat and the puzzles are fun for a while but then it is the same thing with a minor twist over and over and over again. It is such a drag. The temple puzzles can be challenging and fun, but some of the quests and combat sections are just plain annoying. The overworld "run around, find a ledge, hop across, fight three enemies, hop more, fight the exact same enemies but six now, keep hopping, open a mediocre chest" traversal routine SNORE The fundamentals are great, everything runs really smoothly, story is interesting, dialogues are kinda cute and maybe if I played during a different phase of life I would enjoy it more. Unfortunately, I can finish five indie games in the same time it will take me to finish this one. Doesn't feel worth it. I hope Alabaster Dawn doesnt have the same problems..
