About Xploquest 3
The XPLOQUEST saga continues with this third episode.
What is XPLOQUEST?
It's a turn-based, square-by-square role-playing game.
The principle is very simple :
1-You explore the world
2-You kill monsters
3-You complete quests
4-You make money
5-You gain experience
6-You level up
7-You go back to town
8-You buy equipment and skills
9-See 1.
In the world of XPLOQUEST, everyone wants you dead or your money.
Things to know:
No loot, only gold:
In XPLOQUEST enemies and chests don't give you equipment, just gold to spend in towns.
Backup only in town:
You don't decide when you save the game. It happens automatically when entering and leaving a town. So when you leave a city, make sure you have what it takes.
Fights and quests, it's all the way:
You cannot flee a fight or stop a quest in progress.
Quick fight:
When you keep the attack button pressed, the fight takes place automatically. Remember to watch your life.
The food:
Each move on the map uses a food ration. Don't forget to buy some.
Controls:
The game is played with the gamepad or the keyboard.
You can change the configuration of keyboard controls.

"Xploquest 3" is an extremely simple/barebones RPG with lightweight JRPG style combat, weak and watered down RPG mechanisms, and what look a lot like flipped tilesets, icons and artwork in places. It's very shallow and uninteresting... I didn't know they could somehow make an RPG so generic. I'm a little surprised this isn't a mobile app. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $6 USD for this... yeah, delusions of grandeur? Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 8 concurrent pla…2 found this helpful
Thumbs up! If you liked the first two Xploquest games, then you’ll like this one as well. The graphics are better in this one, but the basic gameplay is still the same. I liked the addition of a health bar for monsters so you can easily see how much damage you’re doing. If your attacks don’t seem to do much damage, then you need to go back to an easier zone and grind up a few more levels before going back.2 found this helpful
It's a very simple RPG without a plot or tactical battles.1 found this helpful
Just… a completely terrible cookie-clicker with no interesting mechanics or reward system at all. The developer, when making the third part, seriously downgraded in terms of game design, reaching an unbelievably basic level. On top of that, he increased the grind time by five times compared to the second game and forced players to clear each map cell three times. The stolen assets at least make the visuals look decent, but the music is ruined by a horrible victory soundtrack that, after two hours, drills into your head like a nail. The mission system is awful—towers and dungeons are now just rooms connected by green lines, making it a mess to navigate when 40 rooms are flashing on the screen. Rewards don’t match the costs of items and upgrades. The stretched-out child hero looks weird, and while some monsters are fine, the humans… they look like tiny little stick figures. Weapon assets are also poorly sorted, thrown together randomly, with no sense of power progression—sometimes, a level 5 sword in the starting town looks better than your level 65 weapon. The controls are awful. There’s still no way to buy potions and consumables (food) in bulk or enter a number manually, so …
A few issues almost made me quit, but I'm glad I pulled through. Thank you dev for this nice and fun trilogy.
