Yafti, developed and published by Russpuppy, is a compact indie platformer that embraces the fundamentals of classic 2D side-scrolling design while incorporating a creative twist through its built-in level editor. At first glance, it presents itself as a straightforward run-and-jump adventure set within a castle filled with hostile creatures and environmental hazards. However, beneath its minimalist exterior lies a game that attempts to balance nostalgic challenge with player-driven creativity. The core gameplay revolves around precision platforming. Players must navigate through stages populated with spikes, enemies, and narrow pathways that demand careful timing and deliberate movement. Success depends heavily on mastering the controls and understanding momentum, as jumps often require accurate spacing and reaction speed. The difficulty curve leans toward being demanding rather than forgiving, which can create a satisfying sense of accomplishment when clearing tricky sections. At the same time, this precision-focused design may feel punishing to players who prefer smoother, more forgiving platform mechanics. Enemy placement and level layouts emphasize hazard avoidance over comb…2 found this helpful
Yafti is a pretty simple platformer, as you probaby guessed by the trailer. At one dollar, the game is pretty cheap. Yafti doesn't really have anything unique, its a solid platformer, but theres nothing super unique. There are some wizards, but they suck at wizarding and only know the spell "dropping a waterbottle on the floor and then freezing it" The controls are really smooth, and despite the fact you can't buffer, moving around each level is actually fun The character design makes no sense, hes trapped in a medieval castle, trying to save a king with his pirate buddy, all while wearing loafers, cargo pants, and a t-shirt. I don't recall seeing a typo throughout the entire game, that being said, the plot is pretty plain. You need to escape the dungeon, you need to save the king, and that's the entire plot. I noticed people saying this game was difficult, I think its moderately tough, especially because this might be the only game outside of Geometry Dash that I have seen to have a frame perfect, but that singular frame perfect is in a 10 second level. In general I dont think this is a difficult platformer. To summarize, this game is worth it because despite its flaws…1 found this helpful
Very basic, controls are sensitive, but it's dirt cheap on sale.
got this game for like a dollar using a Steam trading discount Can be completed in an hour, basic but charming little platformer
This game is enjoyable, but remember to hit the SPACE bar frequently to keep jumping off the walls! Yafti is quite a straightforward platformer, as you likely inferred from the trailer. Priced at just one dollar, it’s very affordable. While Yafti doesn’t offer anything particularly groundbreaking, it stands as a reliable platformer without any standout features. There are some wizards in the game, but they’re not very skilled and only seem to know how to "drop a water bottle on the floor and freeze it." The controls are exceptionally smooth, and even though you can't buffer actions, navigating through each level is genuinely enjoyable. The character design is quite odd; he finds himself in a medieval castle, attempting to rescue a king alongside his pirate friend, all while dressed in loafers, cargo pants, and a t-shirt. I didn’t notice any typos throughout the game, but the storyline is rather basic. Your main objectives are to escape the dungeon and save the king, and that’s about it. Some players have mentioned that this game is challenging, but I find it to be moderately difficult. It might be one of the few games, aside from Geometry Dash, that requires frame-perfect timin…
