Why cant we get a Brave Nordics Dlc? instead you want us to buy both versions of the game, punishing people who bought it on release. Well I guess I have to wait a year before buying Ys XI just in case you do something like this. Its a great businiess idea to punish people for buying your games day 1.6 found this helpful
first off get the proud version instead. But for my time with this one... Pros: The music once again from the people of YS is out of the park, all of the combat, boat included, are top stuff and very fluid. The dialog feels very natural with your party/crew. Hardly any missables this time around as apposed to YS9 Grinding is not at all required The power to find new islands and go where you want or fast travel there is a breath of fresh air after the last game's town. The fact that each time the music changes you can make it list off which track it is. Cons: It's too easy. Like I played my first time on nightmare and didn't hit double digits in the game overs. I think this is because they made the revive system too forgiving. I'm talking beating super boss first try and beating foes ranked level 77 while I'm level 31 No rainbow drop recipe in the game... If you know you know. No one can accurately say what is in this game for collectables or missables due to the proud version. Mastering skills does nothing this time around nor achivment based (Granted some new skills will unlock depending on mastery but not all) The seagull bar...... (If you're missing 4 food en…1 found this helpful
Needing to update my review of this because of a better understanding of the mechanics of the game having just beaten it... 20/10. Im absolutely obsessed! I was so emotionally invested in the characters because the Adol+Karja pair hit so close to home. I loved (almost) every minute of this game. The highs, the lows, the challenges, badass moments of clearing an entire room of enemies with a well placed duo skill. Resolved complaint 1- The sailing was a bit slow at first, but upgrades made it to the point I was holding the brake button because I was going so fast with the boost, running literal laps around other ships. It went from tedious "walking grandma across the street" to Fast and Furious: Obelia Drift. Resolved complaint 2- The duos mechanic was hard to get used to... until i realized they're not meant to fight literally side by side against every enemy. Let them fight how they want until you need them. That was player error on my part. The story was very well written; it left a lot of mysteries that eventually unraveled. Like my theory part way through of Adol is visiting his subconscious, learning his hidden abilities from himself, who forgot them because he didn't kno…
I finally came around playing this one. It is clear what they're trying to do: the recreation of YS 8, probably one of the best action games I've ever played. They succeeded for the most part. YS games have an unique charm to them where you truly feel like you're going on an adventure. The music, the places, the characters, atmosphere - everything comes together into giving you that adventurous spirit the game is trying to sell you. That's about it, in things it has in common with YS 8, because the combat has taken a few steps back. I played on Inferno, and this is not a particularly hard game because the guard mechanic is broken. You can guard and perfect guard with ease, with no punishment so most of the time you're gonna spam R2 like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ attempting to get the perfect guard. That's literally all you do, whereas in YS8 if you missed your parry timing, you'd get punished. They also removed the dodge mechanic from YS8 & 9, where you would slow time down if done perfectly. What? This is such a retarded change, because you only have guard. "Blue attacks" can be dodged by running into them (?) and you get some upgraded attack slash that lasts 1 hit...Extremely retarded to eras…
Fun game :) I liked it
32:9 works out of the box. Though I don't think you can choose the placement of the UI. Not really an issue in this game though. I enjoyed this game. I played Oath in Felghana about 14 years ago and it's quite different. Combat and exploration though, feel familiar, and that's a good thing. Just far less challenge. If you want a casual Ys experience, I imagine this is the game to go with. As for story, well they sure show their genius here like in any JRPG. You see, by making it so bad, and causing your intelligence to be so insulted, you can't help but focus only on the cool gameplay. Works every time. Honestly though, I skipped at least 95% of scenes. Somehow I doubt I missed anything. Just play the game.
