About Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation

✦ AI summary

Neptune gets trapped in an '80s alternate dimension and must collect shares and defeat the Seven Sages to escape in this action RPG packed with customizable combo combat and deep crafting systems. Build your own attack combinations, recruit dungeon buddies to aid your quest, modify the world through custom Plans, and craft gear to unlock hidden CPU abilities as you navigate cross-dimensional intrigue and the Console War.

It’s time to Nep-Nep like it’s 1989. Neptune’s been sucked into an alternate dimension of Gamindustri! In order for her to escape from this late ‘80s world, Neptune will have to collect enough shares to open up the path to her own dimension. Sounds easy enough – except a nefarious alliance called the Seven Sages wants to rid Gamindustri of all CPUs, including Neptune!

Forging cross-dimensional friendships, will Neptune be able to defeat the Seven Sages, save this alternate dimension and get back to her own, or will she be stuck in the ‘80s forever?

Key Features

 • +1 to Combos! Customize attack combinations with up to five moves, opening up a whole new array of ways to defeat your enemies!
 • New Story! Play through new story and scenarios when someone else joins the Console War fray and refuses to play by the rules!
 • Bring a Dungeon Buddy! The realtime mini-game Stella’s Dungeon is back, and this time she can bring friends! Each is equipped with special skills that lend their support to Stella in her items quest, so choose wisely!
 • Remake in your Image! Modify the world of Gamindustri to your liking by creating “Plans” that alter dungeon treasures, enemy difficulty, and more!
 • Get Crafty! Customize powerful equipment that can unlock the true power of the CPUs, opening up a world of new skills for them to use!

✦ AI summary

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation receives mixed praise centered on its characters and story, with players particularly loving the cast and considering it the strongest entry in the Re;Birth trilogy, though some note significant technical issues including progression-breaking bugs and softlocks that frustrate gameplay. The main criticisms revolve around repetitive mechanics and asset reuse across the series, along with legacy PC port problems, while supporters feel the improved pacing and expanded dimension-hopping story make it worth playing despite these flaws.

I last reviewed Re;Birth3 in 2020 and I had a lot of complaints about it. I played Victory on PS3 first, got the Platinum trophy on it, and then went onto rush through Re;Birth3 practically immediately after. And I didn't really like it. I had issues with the PC port, the gameplay loop and the lack of the scouting system from the original. I didn't like the change to the SP mechanic and my game would often softlock when I played it, which just frustrated me. And the scouting system being missing meant I had no easy way of grinding EXP. 6 years later, how do I find the game now? Honestly...largely the same. However, I do not dislike it as much as I used to anymore. 6 years later, I think Re;Birth3 is just...fine. Not great, not terrible. I'm having a decent time playing through it again, but my complaints about it remain largely the same. First, I will say this - Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory has my favorite story in Neptunia. Yes, better than VII in my opinion. And while Re;Birth3 tells the same story as the original game, I think it's inferior. The re-translation in Re;Birth3 attempts to minimize …

This is probably my favorite Neptunia game, and my favorite from the Re;Birth series. They basically perfected the formula with this one. Great story and characters, and great gameplay loop. They branch out to the other dimensions with this one, so the characters all feel similar but not quite the same. Lots to do and unlock post game as well.

Great game with good gameplay, a solid soundtrack, and really lovable characters. The story was nice. It feels like a solid step up from the previous entries in terms of pacing and content. Definitely the best entry in the trilogy for me, nep.

With the consistent bugs breaking progressions especially in cutscenes after fights and the intense same-ness from the mechanic and asset re-use across all the Re:Birth games, it's hard to recommend even with Weakened Enemies enabled. Read a summary of the story if you want to catch up on the games or get a 100% save file and watch through all the cutscenes in the Museum section of a main city.
