About Sunlight

Sunlight is a short, vibrant and thought captivating exploration game, from the creators of Among the Sleep, Mosaic and The Plan. Journey into the uncharted forest, guided by the harmonised whispers of the trees. Each tree with different voices, genders and dialects, speaking as one.

Taking artistic inspiration from expressionist painters like Monet and Munch and focusing on a powerful 3D audio experience with breath-taking choir work, Sunlight will leave you feeling entranced and in wonder in this artistic approach to telling you a story.

Playtime: 30 minutes.

The visuals, that were hand painted using Quill, makes the experience feel like exploring a three dimensional painting.

The hauntingly beautiful music, composed by Tchaikovsky, was recorded in the Archbishops palace in Trondheim, Norway, and sung by the award winning choir Kammerkoret Aurum. Along with a wide range of voice actors spanning multiple continents, the atmospheric and meditative story comes alive.

This is a brief, highly meditative first-person walking simulator that feels like stepping into an expressionist painting. The gameplay is incredibly simple, you gently wander a hand-painted forest, collecting flowers while listening to the harmonized, whispered poetry of the trees. Backed by a beautiful, haunting choir soundtrack, it succeeds in being a peaceful, deeply atmospheric 30-minute pallette cleanser. While there is virtually no mechanical challenge, it is a lovely artistic experience for anyone looking to decompress.
Pick a Flower
A bizarre and sad story which will really have you trying to follow the narrator's voice keenly, to hear what happens next.
Get started
Using WASD to walk about in a forest while an indistinct voice narrates the only story line was disconcerting. I suggest opening the settings screen and turning on subtitles. And then noting that you need to use the SPACEBAR in order to pick flowers. OK with that out the way, let's jump right in. Sunlight is a short visual novel, you will have to collect a posy of flowers in order to complete the story. I really liked the sound effects and the soundtrack, but found the narrator hard to follow without subtitles enabled. The narrating voice wavers and fades sometimes and is delivered, confusingly by many different narrators. I believe this was an attempt to involve many speaker cultural tones and thus hopefully appeal to as many people as possible. Which I found to be a distraction from the immersion. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3791114042
Story Arc
A weird story, which actually draws you in and gets you slowed down and at peace with your environment, which the protagonist…

This is a very unique game with an excellent story. The art is wonderful and I love the fact that this is essentially a brief, interactive art piece. That said, I wish the flowers wouldn't glitch out as I held them in the game. That took me out of the experience a little bit. Still a wonderful game, though.

an unusual way to express a sad story and remind us to live in the moment. someone could see this game as a form of meditation. Another might see the hope - everyone's story doesn't truly end, but continues on without their bodies someone said that it is just a digital art, not a game. don't be too critical :) it is still beautiful. thank you.

30 minutes of theatrical performance. Felt like it was made for the creators, not the consumer. Very artsy, very bland
