✦ AI summary

Terminator 2D: NO FATE is a stylish 16-bit run-and-gun side-scroller with responsive gameplay, great presentation, and enjoyable story recreation that most players find fun through the main campaign, but the final level suffers from a significant difficulty spike, control mapping limitations, and poorly designed boss mechanics that frustrate players and undermine the otherwise solid experience. Players praise the art style, audio, and level design leading up to the end, though some note the base difficulty feels unbalanced and the game is quite short.

Good up to the last future level. It just feels tacked on and cheap and has a big difficulty spike. Final boss is a slog and you can’t remap all the controls so it feels like you need 7 fingers to do it. I want to remap roll away from down and a, as I’m fed up with it either not working or I roll off to my death. Also you get floaty exploding things coming at you during the final boss. They can come in on any angle, you can only shoot at 45 degree angles. Poor that. Everything leading up that was good though. It just properly ruins the game and the experience.

A very cool and stylized take on a classic!

Fun, short, somewhat difficult run and gun side-scroller. It may be that I'm bad at the games, but I definitely had to re-do a bunch of missions. The story was great, and overall everything was fun. There aren't really many different weapons, but the struggle comes into figuring out what's going on and how to account for the different enemies.

**Review** This is a very fun game, and I absolutely loved it. The main story took me less than an hour to complete, but there is more to it, including side quests that I did not finish. I played on Easy, which gives unlimited continues, because the limited continues on the other difficulties made it frustrating for me. I also didn't like that you cannot properly save the game. Still, the game was a lot of fun. The storytelling feels like a classic 90s game, which really works here. The beautiful 16-bit art style, responsive gameplay, fitting soundtrack, short but consistently interesting levels, and excellent cutscenes all come together very well. Seeing a story I already know from the movie recreated in this format was excellent. My biggest issue is the price: at $30, it feels expensive for such a short game. I also wish there were more special extras, such as an art book, behind-the-scenes material, or other bonus content. Despite that, I had a fantastic time with it. **Game stats:** - **Game Duration:** 4 hours - **Complexity:** 2/5 - **Story:** 4/5 - **Interaction:** 3/5 - **Replay Value:** Yes. There are side quests and reasons to replay levels, but I personally…

Delightfully crunchy aesthetic - both in visuals and audio - paired with good-not-great shooting and some fun change-of-pace gimmick levels. Difficulty is in a somewhat unfortunate position where I feel like the default is a little too easy, but the next step up is obnoxiously difficult. Has a little bit of Diagonal Shooting Disease at times.
