Partisans 1941

I can not in good consciousness recommend this game on the basis of the game breaking bugs still present after 6 years. The mission "Hunter" simply does not work and crashes upon returning to camp; additionally, the issue I seem to be running in with has been well known with no fixes ever made. I do not expect any fixes either as the Developer Team no longer exists.

best game if you want to use stealth. too bad it is over

[b]Commandos Lite[/b] Set during WWII in occupied Soviet Russia, where you command a squad of partisans with various skills. Each partisan has a specific role, and as they level up, you unlock new skills. Some excel at stealth, while others specialize in heavy weapons, healing, or moving over obstacles. Most of the time, you'll stay hidden, scout patrols, and prepare ambushes. The real-time-with-pause system lets you plan several steps ahead and execute synchronized takedowns. When stealth fails, you can set traps and go loud. It's very satisfying to mow down enemies with an MG42. You manage your squad in a hideout between missions. Wounded characters can be healed, and you can send partisans on assignments to gather supplies and equipment. There is no shop, so you'll need to scavenge for ammo, medicine, food, and gear during missions to avoid running short on resources, especially food. I recommend it if you're looking for a more approachable take on the Commandos formula.

Its like Commandos, but slightly newer. Be warned the UI is super clunky and frustrating. The 'tactical pause' function is more of a tactical 'slow' so don't be surprised if you die b/c the UI keeps you the characters from doing what you need but by the time you can stop them, they've already alerted the guards. Trying to orchestrate a gun fight given all this seems nigh impossible, even though (given all cover mechanics) that was their intent. Admittedly I'm relatively still early in the game, but unlike Commandos, where you need the special traits of the different characters, there doesn't seem to be a reason to not just exclusively use the Commander. Most of these issues are addressed in Shadow Tactics, so if you're looking for a more modern Commandos, try there first.
