About Desperados III

✦ AI summary

Lead a gang of five outlaws through the Wild West using tactical stealth and creative takedowns, where careful planning and perfectly coordinated team abilities are your best weapons against overwhelming odds. Each character brings unique skills—from poisoned syringes to bear traps to clever disguises—letting you solve every challenge your own way in this long-awaited prequel to the classic Desperados.

Desperados III is a story-driven, hardcore tactical stealth game, set in a ruthless Wild West scenario.

In this long-awaited prequel to the beloved classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, John Cooper will join forces with the runaway bride Kate, the shady hitman Doc McCoy, the giant trapper Hector, and Isabelle, a mysterious lady from New Orleans. On Cooper’s quest for redemption, his adventures lead him and his gang from rural towns, over swamps and riverbanks, and finally to a dramatic showdown worthy of Wild West legends.

Play smart if you want to succeed. A good plan can make the difference between survival and finding yourself at the business end of a pistol.

Drifter, gunslinger, and natural leader Cooper can kill quietly with a knife, or take out multiple foes with his revolvers. Strongman Hector carries a giant bear trap and can slay the toughest opponents with his trusty axe. Cold blooded bounty hunter McCoy likes to be methodical, using lures, knockout gas, poison syringes and a custom long-range pistol. Kate can fool almost any man with the right outfit, and kills discreetly with her hidden gun. And then there is this mysterious woman from New Orleans, Isabelle…

Combine your team’s special skills to overcome each tough challenge in your own style.
  • Play five unique characters, each with a very particular set of skills
  • Experience true freedom of choice with countless different ways to overcome any obstacle
  • Defeat large groups of enemies with careful planning and execution
  • Witness the glory of classic Wild West scenarios like frontier towns, mysterious swamps, sprawling modern cities, and many more
  • Choose between non-lethal and deadly attacks, stealth and blazing guns
  • Adjust the game to your playstyle with various difficulty settings and special replay challenges
  • The Showdown mode allows you to pause the game anytime and react to ambushes or surprise attacks

Remember Shadow Tactics: well, not the same vibe, still the same fun.

Great game with really amazing gameplay but it's more of a puzzle game combined with stealth so if you aren't into really slow gameplay, maybe skip out on this one. It's slow up until you execute your attack where you can kill a lot of people in a few seconds. My only big complaint is that you can't queue up actions in showdown mode, like shooting a guy and then immediately melee the guy next to me or more commonly, throw a knife and then instantly shoot 2 people with my pistols. It is doable but it requires a lot of micromanaging and fast reflexes in an otherwise slow game. You can also kill someone and make it look like an accident and if you have Hector in your party, you can literally throw the dead body into a group of enemies and they'll get confused and start searching, making them scatter and sometimes easier to deal with. They won't sound the alarm because the body technically died from an "accident". Something even dumber which I didn't do much, is that you can link one of your party members with an enemy by using Isabelles ability and then have Hector throw an unconscious or dead body onto your party member that is linked (he can even hit himself), which will make yo…

Game is super boring. Controls are a hot pile of garbage. There is too much talking. Too much repetition. Too much NPC watching. Too much saving / reloading. I could only tolerate a few minutes at a time of this. Worst part is when you think you are done with one of these stupid missions the game will drop more objectives on you mid mission. I really tried to power through but the last mission I played pissed me off so much that i ended up quitting and uninstalling. I'm so disappointed with this purchase.

One of the best examples of combining stealth and strategy currently available out there. It's a fun and challenging game. It has a great story, cool characters (each with different abilities), great level design and manages to keep you engaged, even though is a slow paced game. I really liked the final mission, especially the confrontation at the chapel. The "Showdown" restriction for the final act was a nice touch. Overall, if you love rtt/strategy/stealth and like to be challenged, this is the game for you. 9.5/10
