About Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

✦ AI summary

Command a specialized team of five deadly Japanese warriors to silently infiltrate heavily guarded locations using cunning tactics, clever traps, and perfectly coordinated strikes. Each character brings unique abilities—from the nimble ninja Hayato to sniper Takuma—forcing you to carefully plan your approach across gorgeous Edo-period environments where creativity and patience matter more than firepower.

Shadow Tactics is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period.

Take control of a team of deadly specialists and sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies. Choose your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps. Set traps, poison your opponents or completely avoid enemy contact.

The group is composed of very different personalities. Working together as a team seems impossible at first. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made. The characters develop their own dynamic and each member will have to face their own personal demons.

One of the leaders of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his enemies silently, with his sword and shuriken. Samurai Mugen prefers a more powerful approach and can defeat more fiends at one time, but thus also forfeiting flexibility. Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies disguised as a Geisha. And the street child Yuki places traps and decoys enemies towards their deadly fate. The mysterious marksman Takuma however, relies on his sniper rifle and takes care of the enemies from a distance.

The player has to carefully evaluate his options in order to master the challenging missions: how will the characters behave as a team? Which one is best equipped for each task? How can they best master the given missions? Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete missions.
  • Play as five completely different characters with their unique skill set
  • Conquer seemingly impossible challenges where you are outnumbered ten to one
  • Find dozens of ways to take out your opponents the way you want
  • Jump from roof to roof and climb large buildings to attack the enemy from above
  • Explore beautiful environments of ancient Japan in the Edo era
  • Choose from three difficulty levels to match your skill

An active engaging puzzle, strong themed about Japanese Edo period with enough challenge yet friendly for new comers. I really like some puzzle when I’m able to resolve them, when is not the case I can’t hide my frustration. Even so, there are many kind of puzzle and this game is an example of that, and has one of the best features, multiple solutions and ways to approach it. Maybe not your regular puzzle game, instead a strategy one with a great drive on keep things stealth. Shadow Tactics let you handle the mission in a many, many ways and rewards you in challenge and a lot of achievements, with a superb OST, sound effects and story. Rewarding in many aspects, it was one of the best experience in the genre, good design and well polished against bugs and other things. Nevertheless is not perfect, some npc behave in an unrealistic way, that is expected, the story do some twist plot you could see it coming an it is not necessary bad, yet that flaws make the game more genuine. A very Japanese, oh dear, very very Japanese and I love it. Let your brain do some mental exercise, it will be thank you later. De una nostálgica memoria, a una experiencia reconfortante en un género que…

difficult and fun stealth game :3 each character feels unique and has their own special tools, and the actual missions are fun & pretty. it basically a puzzle game with trying to figure out how to move throughout levels without some goober halfway across the map that you forgot about, seeing you. it's not for me necessarily but the levels are quite replayable, some less so, but some of them have options you can take between path A and path B for example. also its very much stealth and stealth only, as in if you get caught and the alarm raises, you might as well reload from a previous save. story was quite good too [spoiler] i found the true identity of kage-sama to be kinda obvious though lol. So it is easily the best stealth game I have ever played. The trailer got me hooked the idea of swapping characters real time was alluring and it did deliver, all the characters are unique and compliment each other perfectly. I liked the shadow sequences a lot when it is successful I feee like a god, maps are pretty good with their gimmicks and kudos to whoever as**ole decided on the enemy placements, one mistake and you just hope you saved recently.

As a veteran fan of first Desperados, Commandos and versions of them, I love this. It helps that I love samurai themes in general as an old martial arts nerd. But I came here from Desperados 3, I wish Mimimi was still going because the quality is stellar. Have to admit it is kinda easy if you have played these kinda games a lot and understand how to trick AI XD but nonetheless enjoyable.
