As Dusk Falls is an original interactive drama from INTERIOR/NIGHT that explores the entangled lives of two families across thirty years. Starting in 1998 with a robbery-gone-wrong in small town Arizona, the choices you make have a powerful impact on the characters’ lives in this uncompromising story of betrayal, sacrifice and resilience.

Replay the story again and again to uncover vastly different outcomes for the characters and explore hidden nuances behind every decision. Will your characters survive unscathed? What kind of people will they ultimately become?

Drive the lives and relationships of multiple characters in a decades-spanning story told across two intense books.

Uncompromising Crime Drama. The cinematic story is brought to life by the performance of actors that are digitally rendered into a beautiful art style, creating a unique experience that plays like a motion graphic novel.

Sacrifice vs Survival. Can you break free from your family’s toxic influence? What will you sacrifice for the ones you love? Can you overcome your past? Your decisions will shape the characters’ fates.

Interwoven Destinies. Follow two families in their struggle to survive, protect, and endure through challenges rooted in the previous generations’ mistakes.

Experience Together. Reveal insights about yourself and those you play with as you discover the underlying values of your decisions in cooperative gameplay with up to 8 players at a time, locally or online (or a mix). The As Dusk Falls companion app makes making choices in game easy, just use your phone or tablet to vote with or against your friends. (Online console multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Live Gold, subscriptions sold separately).

✦ AI summary

As Dusk Falls offers engaging branching narrative storytelling with real actors filmed for character animations, but players are significantly frustrated by the unresolved ending that teases a third chapter unlikely to materialize, leaving major plot threads unanswered. The writing and character development receive mixed to negative reactions from players, with some finding it problematic while others enjoyed the experience despite the controversial visual style and ending cliffhanger.

Peak storytelling, but I can't in good faith recommend this game with no end, it just got me frustrated ending with a cliffhanger and a lot of questions without answers...

Jesus, this is bad. Some of the worst writing I've ever seen in a game. Immediately after finishing it, the first thing I did was try to find a picture of the dev team, expecting to see an endless wave of blue haired culture warriors. Instead, I found a behind the scenes video where, 14 seconds in, they start talking about the diversity of their team. "We're writing for as many people as possible, to be as inclusive as possible." And honestly, I wasn't surprised. I clocked this horrendous writing style about five minutes in. You're immediately forced to play as some fat dude who has the aura of a pencil, is completely submissive to his wife, and is pathetically soft spoken. The writing, in its attempts to please everyone, seems terrified to take any risks or say anything slightly edgy for fear of offending someone. And before anyone thinks this is just me hating on games that try to be progressive, I've played Life is Strange and had absolutely no problem with it. The issue here is the writing. It constantly feels like the characters are being written to tick boxes rather than actually behave like believable people. Oh and the art style is absolutely hideous too. Lazy, uninspir…

The game is good but the ending is bad because of the last scene. It tease a chapter 3 that will never come out.

Honestly, making the characters out of real people filmed against a green screen and then inserting them into the game was a questionable choice. That said, the game isn’t actually bad — especially considering the mandatory DLC (the As Dusk Falls — High-Resolution Texture Pack), which significantly increases the download size. I enjoyed the game; it’s structured much like Detroit: Become Human, featuring the same kind of branching narrative tree. They didn’t overdo it to the point where you have to replay the entire game just for certain achievements — though a few such achievements do exist. For instance, some require specific actions within a single chapter. However, if you generally follow the path that aligns with the achievement requirements (simply making the choices you would naturally make), you can largely avoid that hassle. And let’s not forget the ability to restart from a checkpoint without overwriting your save. I’d also like to add a word about how easy it is to obtain achievements. I play the game however I want (which is the nature of the genre), and as I mentioned, you can restart from an…
