About Twin Mirror

✦ AI summary

Return to your hometown to uncover the truth behind your best friend's death in this narrative detective adventure where your choices reshape relationships and investigation outcomes. Navigate your fractured psyche through a Mind Palace where memories and possibilities intertwine, while your mysterious Double—a manifestation of your empathetic side—challenges your every decision.

Sam Higgs left his hometown, and everyone he knows, behind two years ago. But the death of his best friend Nick calls the former investigative journalist back to confront the town’s troubled past—and his own. He soon becomes drawn into a dangerous web of intrigue as all is not as it seems in the small town of Basswood, West Virginia. Forced to face himself and the townsfolk, Sam struggles to balance the scales of reconciliation and his life-changing investigation. He must decide how much he’s willing to risk to uncover the mysteries of his hometown.

REMEMBER, REFLECT, REVEAL

Explore Sam’s unique and analytical ways in his expansive Mind Palace, where you can revisit his past, relive old memories, and reconstruct events. There, you can go through possible scenarios, envision how things could’ve gone, and follow the clues to your next lead. Be careful, though—the Mind Palace is a reflection of Sam’s state of mind, for better or worse.

THE TWIN MIRROR

You can also speak with your Double, who is the more social and empathic side of yourself that nobody else can see. You must navigate the dangers of Sam’s conflicted thoughts and feelings together: will your Double become a trusted confidante or an unwelcome guest?

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

In Twin Mirror, every decision you make alters the course of your investigation, as well as your relationships in Basswood. Trust others or rely only on yourself in your hunt for the truth. But no matter your choices, your story is yours. Take a look in the mirror—what will you see?

Well, the story is okay, but it feels too rushed. There's no time to really get to know the characters, so it feels more like the brief introductions in a text written by a first grader. That's why it's so important to develop characters, to have more interaction in games. I wasn't able to "feel" any of the characters and the protagonists backstory was also a bit confusing and not really explained. But I get what they wanted to do and for that it's a solid game. Too short, but solid. I like the "thought palace" part of the game, a bit like the Sherlock Holmes' games. If there would have been 12 hours instead of 6, I think it could be a really good game. But I still recommend it as a nice sort of detective game.

I really liked it. Fun gameplay and story that makes you want to know more. I wish the game had more to explore and more interactions with the characters, especially Sam's other self, he needed more time to really solidify his points and purpose. Overall just wish the story was much much longer but it does a decent job at raising questions about what it means to live your life and choosing who you want to be.

https://youtu.be/xoE3KA7IR4Y Many of the edges show they age but the underlying voice acting and plot are sturdy enough to hold up.
