✦ AI summary

Players have deeply nostalgic memories of Operation Flashpoint as a groundbreaking military sim that defined their gaming history, with some crediting it for personal support during difficult times. However, many criticize its dated controls and AI as frustratingly unresponsive, making squad and vehicle management tedious, though the core mission design is appreciated when not dependent on AI cooperation. The game's technical performance is also frequently cited as problematic, with complaints about poor optimization and engine issues.

I don't have any issue with the game itself, it's a good game, but in the remastered version there is no way to change the bind for the third person camera in settings (even when enabled), and since my keyboard does not have the numpad, I can't turn on/off the third person camera. I'm giving the "not recomended" review as there is a tiny chance that Bohiemia might see it and make a tiny update to fix it. So in short, good game, but the lack of one setting pushesh me to this point, as driving a car in first person is bad in my opinion. Edit 1: added missing "is" in the last sentence Edit 2: As it turns out, I'm blind, as I hadn't noticed that option in the settings up until I had booted up the game for the second time after one user pointed it out on my community post regarding this non existent issue. So this "review" was on Not recommened for one hour and I'm changing it the Recommened, as this game deserves it. In short, there was no issue with the game, only with me not seeing something that was clearly there

This game might actually be the most greatest game this franchise has ever made. As someone who owns the entire ARMA franchise of games this one is just a immaculate masterpiece and you know why? Its because sure the graphics look like garbage but this was made 2001 and the mission triggers might also be messed up but this game makes you have a genuine fear factor since you know you don't have plot armor unlike other Military campaign games. It also has one of the greatest plots of all time and this game just speaks for itself. Might be one of if not the greatest ARMA game ever made. The remastered just makes things 10x better. Colonel Blake is impressed. (Please buy this game because it features me)

This will be my 3rd time buying OFP (CD, Mac/Linux release, and this). This is pretty much the same OFP, just version 3.0+ instead of 1.99. Lots of tiny fixes such as increasing FPS and render distance. Mod support with a mod manager is now added. Multiplayer has been supported (which was buggy a few years ago on 1.99). Remastered also has the "legacy" version, which you can select between the two. Remastered is now open source as well as the game engine. Runs fine on linux, just like the last native port. All in all, this game hasn't really changed the core since the last OFP release on steam. I really wish they could have just released the Red Hammer expansion pack (common Codemasters!) with it. This game had a huge impact in my life. I remember watching my dad play this (I was too young to play it though because it was "too gory and realistic". After getting a hand-me-down PC in middle school, my friends and I played the crap out of this game. I spend so many hours playing co-op with my brother doing YT videos. I would say this influenced me to join the military, which is kind of ironic since OFP almost seems like an anti-war game at time. I try to play this yearly, th…

This game was a huge part of my childhood. For those who don't know, back then it was called "Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis". I remember getting the CD for the first time, I was instantly hooked. The graphics looked like GTA 6 for me back then, it looked so realistic :D Huge respect to Bohemia for remastering it and open sourcing the engine, this genuinely should be an industry standard for classic/old games. Companies still sell their old games, they never update them (broken or not), most of them have critical vulnerabilities in them, some games don't even launch without community mods. Let the community do their thing. If I remember correctly, it had wonky controls, it took you some time to get used to them. It was difficult sure but made it fun, the soundtrack is very enjoyable. If you play it now, the AI is 100% ass (good ole Arma) but what made the game unique at the time was the non-linear approach to the missions/campaign. No matter how many times you played the game, it was up to you how you approached it, it made the game very replayable. Mission editor was where the real fun was honestly. Creating your own scenarios, spawning tens and hundreds of units so you …
