✦ AI summary

This competent but unpolished metroidvania delivers solid gameplay with decent level design, character progression, and charming moments that appeal to genre fans despite its significant shortcomings. The main drawbacks are inconsistent art direction mixing pixel and non-pixel graphics, poor visual presentation, technical limitations like fixed resolution and no fullscreen, and a general lack of quality-of-life features that hold it back from being truly memorable. It's a passable budget title that works as a functional metroidvania experience but falls short of standing out in a crowded genre

This is a competent little metroidvania, but nothing special. Took me 3.5 hours to beat, getting every achievement besides the speedrun one (need to beat within an hour.) While it doesn't measure up to the likes of Mini Ghost and Gato Roboto, it's still decent value for the cheap price.

This made little to no sense to me. Combat's alright, level design is all over the place. Story is passable. It's not particularly exciting, or even in the top 10 of Metroidvania's. But you know what, I enjoyed it. It's surprisingly charming, and if you can get past a lot of the missing Quality of Life features that you'd probably expect it's an enjoyable game.

Fun Metroidvania, it pretty much does everything right for this genre; original look and feel, diverse enemies, perfect difficulty level. The music is relaxing and sound effects are just right. I particularly like the intricate plot, the complicated intro is most thought provoking, along with the heart warming ending, it is story telling at its best.

I have played a TON of low-budget Metroidvanias, and I can sometimes stumble on some serious gold beneath an otherwise ugly exterior. RES isn’t exactly gold… but it’s surprisingly fun and competent. It is a standard Metroidvania that does everything fairly well. Good level design, character progression, and pacing. The art is very basic, with some bad mixed resolutions creating weird artifacts. But those little imperfections can end up charming if the gameplay succeeds, which it did. Is it a must play? No. But it is better than a lot of Metroidvanias in its league, so it’s playable for a fanatic like me.

This is a family friendly retro 2D pixel platformer/shooter where the developers forgot to use pixel graphics all the time, and just use them some of the time. Control a giant robot/whatever and explore a system of mazelike platformer levels. There's some good ideas here with a variety of unlocks and upgrades that help progress you through the story. The downside is, as the schizophrenic art style tries to tell us, the quality here is completely terrible. Very, very ugly graphics. Fixed resolution. Fixed controls. No fullscreen, so the game runs in a tiny window. Way below minimum standards for any PC game, and so, impossible to recommend.
