✦ AI summary

Demon's Mirror is a deck-building roguelike that combines Slay the Spire-style gameplay with a match-many puzzle mechanic, offering an interesting twist that some find charming while others see as a gimmick that hampers the experience. Players praise its clean presentation, distinct character mechanics, and solid challenge, but criticize the heavy reliance on luck from the puzzle board and feel it doesn't differentiate itself enough from its inspiration to justify playing over established alternatives like Slay the Spire or Monster Train.

It's good in a middle-of-the-pack sense, and worth picking up. It takes a little too long to unlock the things that really set the characters apart from each other, leaving a bland first impression. This takes a little explaining, but essentially the player can use the symbol board for their action at a two energy cost, with cards running the typical 0-3 cost for the most part (noting that players very typically have four or more energy to spend in a turn). The characters largely differ in how they interact with the board: the first and simplest gets one free board move per turn, the second gets a one-energy discount on a card in hand after each board move, and the third seeds the board with wild spaces that also provide a discount on a board move that includes them. Once all the characters and most of the cards are unlocked the interaction between cards, boards and enemies gets very interesting with a lot of room for cleverness. (I would strongly recommend to the developer putting an "Unlock All Cards" option in the Settings menu, to let folks take the training wheels off earlier if they choose.) The story / moral is positive, and I appreciate that the game has somethin…

Very cheap version of Slay the Spire. Copies a lot from that game, while adding a puzzle that just hampers you most of the time because it is completely luck based. Basically, a much worse version of Slay the Spire. Just buy Slay the Spire or Monster Train, this game is not worth the time.

This is a really diff take on STS type of game, it looks clean and cute has some challenge to it already without adding modifiers. Gonna get to a poiint where i wish there was more than 3 classes though cos its fun :) Would recommend for anyone who likes STS to give this a try.

Play Time: 28.9hrs Achievements: 33 out of 36 Date/Version: January 3rd 2026 / Patch Oct 18th 2024 Rating: 7.0 out of 10. Demon's Mirror is a deck-building, match many (not match 3), roguelike game. There's a strong possibility you've played other match 3 games, this on the other hand adds some additional twists, and infuses itself with other genres. You have 3 unique characters to choose from who have a variety of builds, some have more builds than others. But like any game, some builds are less effective against particular bosses or enemies. With there being 3 unique characters to play as you'll find yourself playing or potentially gravitating towards one character, try to beat as many gameplays as you can. As mastering cards (for an achievement) requires you to win, and loosing results in nothing, not even experience points. Like many other Rougelike Deckbuilders, this game has a grid based map, that offers a variety of paths, but sometimes these paths offer branching paths which can be helpful at times. You'll encounter elite fights, regular enemy fights, events, surprise ambush style fights, and boss fights. Some of the events you'll encounter will have mini games, matching…

Game is trying to be a deck builder and connect game at the same time but does both sides extremely poorly. Focus should be put on one or the other. Personally I think it should lean more heavily into the connect aspect of the game but the deck building is fighting it at every turn.
