About Ex-Zodiac
Blast your way through colorful low-poly worlds as Kyuu in this fast-paced rail shooter, taking down the Zodiac terrorist organization across the Sanzaru Star System. With 17+ levels, epic boss battles, a stellar 16-bit soundtrack, and satisfying barrel roll mechanics, Ex-Zodiac captures the pure arcade energy of early 90s 3D shooters.
FEATURING:
- A retro, colourful, low-poly visual style
- 11 main levels and 6 bonus levels currently (more than 12 will be available after full release) - Major bosses at the end of each level, each piloted by a member of the Zodiac
- A 16-bit style soundtrack by +TEK combining FM and wavetable synthesis
- Barrel rolls
CONTROLS:
This game plays best using an Xinput compatible analogue controller (Xbox, PS4 etc), however digital devices can be used too, such as a D-pad or keyboard (analogue is definitely the way to go, though!). The controls are also re-mappable.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Ex-Zodiac is a fresh, original on-rails shooter that successfully captures the spirit of classic Star Fox with a standout soundtrack and engaging level design that scratches a particular itch for fans of the genre. Players praise its fun gameplay and stylish presentation, though some find the high difficulty and lack of difficulty options frustrating, with complaints about punishing repetition and concerns about keyboard-and-mouse controls not feeling optimal.
While Nintendo might be stuck in Star Fox 64 remake purgatory, this (original) Star Fox inspired on-rails shooter is more than enough to stave off my hunger for now...very comforting yet still fresh, not to mention a consistently banging soundtrack which is perhaps the most important distinction to make when being inspired by 1 over 64....though the missiles and ground missions are also still very much appreciated....
What do they call these? Rage bait games? I want to play games to have fun and so far Im stuck doing youtube tutorials to play a game because there's no real difficulty selections in order to force you to replay the limited content multiple times to enhance otherwise short gameplay time. It looked so cool, but its intentionally hard to the point of abusing my spare time, its annoying because I love the way it looks but hey, Im stuck on the first level so I cant even enjoy the whole game. Some people like playing the same level over and over again until they luck out, not me. Please watch youtube videos to fully enjoy my game? Yes, you know even better, lets cut out the middle-man, I dont even need to copy someone else's specific inputs, I can just pay someone else to play my game for me and I can watch, wow what an experience. Ive played starfox, it was never this obnoxiously hard, its like the game copies the look, but abandons the ease of use.
I definitely recommend this game. It's still very fun to play despite being early access, and I did get that Star Fox feel I was itching for. I have only two problems: 1. This appears to be a game that isn't completely friendly to keyboard and mouse. And I have played through all the content of the game so far at the time of this review, minus the security sections. Sometimes it felt like I was just hitting the left mouse click over and over hoping to hit something, other times i just felt like I was not fast enough to turn around or follow an enemy's movement. 2. Sometimes I would have a hard time tracking boss and enemy attacks, which kinda led to me not understanding how to avoid them so I took the damage or even died. (Edit: I need to clarify, what I mean is that I would sometimes not understand how to avoid boss attacks. Like, what section of the screen am I supposed to move to to avoid Titanox's hands? And stuff like that. That didn't stop me from beating these bosses. I just wanted to point that out.) Now these two problems aren't game breaking, at least to me. And it's very possible this is just skill issue on my end because I'm not completely used this style of game. I…
This is the greatest indie game I've ever played, it' so much fun to just load in to any of these well designed levels and have a blast. I cannot wait for more since it's still in early access so there is more to come but man even if it was only the levels the game currently has it's still more than worth the money for the gem of a game.
oh I am going to lose myself for hours in this game. excellent on rail shooter that scratches a very particular gaming itch for me.
It's short (though still in early access), but fun.
