About Rover Mechanic Simulator

✦ AI summary

Rover Mechanic Simulator puts you in charge of maintaining and repairing Mars rovers for humanity's first Martian colony using specialized tools like 3D printers, soldering irons, and overhead cranes. Progress through multiple skill paths as a technician, analyst, or economist while restoring iconic rovers like Spirit and Opportunity to keep the colony's exploration efforts alive.

Welcome to Mars!

Rover Mechanic Simulator is a game in which you are a mechanic working on one of the first Martian colonies. Your main tasks include the repair and maintenance of Mars rovers, so that the remaining crew can collect detailed information about the structure of the planet.

Use various devices!

There are many devices at your disposal that will allow you to dismantle and maintain even the smallest parts of the rover. Use different tools such as a 3D printer, recycling machine, overhead crane, soldering iron and many more.

Fix Mighty Mars Rovers

There are many devices on Mars which served people in the past but broke down at some point. You can fix and restore them to service. Thanks to you they can continue to perform their tasks by sending specialized information about the composition of the planet. "Spirit", "Opportunity" and others have served people for years and they can still do it!

Fix damaged PCBs

Not all parts need to be replaced entirely. You can use special workbenches to repair damaged PCBs, clean and maintain parts that have worn out during rover's work. Thanks to this, you can save resources for much more difficult tasks.

Gain Experience

The game offers you several development paths that you can choose. Are you a tinkerer who enjoys disassembling devices into small parts? Become a technician! But if you prefer to precisely analyze the damaged parts and find malfunctions faster, then become an analyst. If you want to master the recovery of resources, follow the economist’s path.

Gain experience, earn higher and higher ranks and undertake more and more difficult tasks. Become the best engineer on Mars!

✦ AI summary

Rover Mechanic Simulator offers satisfying hands-on mechanical work with varied parts and problems to solve, plus educational details about how each component functions, though some players find the tutorial screens excessive and tedious to get through. Players who enjoyed Occupy Mars or enjoy working on machines tend to appreciate it as a solid experience, with the DLC receiving positive feedback and bugs having been addressed over time.

Pretty fun, a lot of parts to work with, different kinds of problems to work through. Also includes some information about each part (what it does, why it exists) which I also found cool.

This is a cool little side track from the Occupy Mars game. If you enjoy working on machines and enjoy Occupy Mars, then this will be a nice break.

I played through the main game twice now and the DLC once. I loved it and am glad to see the bugs I encountered fixes after a few years between playthroughs. The DLC was great.

I kind of wish this game had a "meh" option. Its cool, probably worth full price but definitely worth sale price. I struggle to keep engaged with it like I do other mechanic games though, the game-play is too sluggish for me. Parts take ages to do, there are time limits on the more advanced stages, and the examination system the dust system is beyond annoying and I hate it full stop, I wish there was a machine to just get rid of it as a whole, it's a pointless time sink even at higher upgrades. every repair to me feels like having to access the crankshaft in car mechanic simulator, where it doesn't feel rewarding because there's so many screws and steps that it takes 20-30 minutes to do it that by the time you get everything taken apart and then put together again, you are just ready for it to be over with. 9/10 times it's a "this part needs to be fully replaced" which means you also need to wait for the printer as well on top of the tedious repair. I like that you can inspect from the tablet but... it really would be nice to just auto inspect parts when you take them off like every other mechanics game in existence. it's annoying to analyse a part to: 1. take all the pieces co…

A short verdict: if you’re engineering-minded and love space, pick it up on discount. As a game, Rover Mechanic Simulator didn’t hold my attention for very long. As something for a space nerd who enjoys taking machinery apart, it certainly has its appeal. I’ve been interested in astronomy and astronautics since childhood, and I’m no stranger to repairing complex, expensive equipment, so this seemed like a natural fit. The first few repairs on each rover were satisfying. Learning how the vehicles are put together, removing components, and exploring their construction kept the engineer in me entertained. Sometimes I actually wanted to disassemble things further than the game allowed, just to see what was inside. Unfortunately, once that initial curiosity is satisfied, there isn’t enough left to sustain the experience. Fault diagnosis is quite rudimentary, and familiar repairs gradually become a sequence of repetitive tasks. Upgrades help a little, but they don’t prevent the work from eventually feeling like a chore. That’s partly a limitation of the premise: a rover mechanic simulator based on real vehicles has a fairly specific range of things to offer. I would have loved more v…
