✦ AI summary

Niffelheim is an oddly designed side-scrolling survivor game that struggles with an unclear identity, trying to blend PvE co-op gameplay with PvP team mechanics across a mirrored map in a way that satisfies neither. Players praise the core farming and resource management loop when played cooperatively, but criticize janky combat, overly punishing death mechanics, slow HP regeneration that forces idling, and a confusing mix of systems that feels poorly balanced for either mode.

I don't know who this game was for. It is a side-scrolling 2d Survivor, PvE mixed with PvP. but the map is mirrored 4 times like an RTS game. It's like an odd bland that tries to appeal to an extreme niche. The thing is, the game works well as a Coop PvE game, but it is balanced for Team-PvP. I know. It is odd. It could easily be fixed by removing the team vs team, and have things adjusted for coop. For example, you can regenerate HP by sitting on thrones, but it is really slow, forcing you to wait a minute or two, idling. There are rpg elements but the effects are very negligeable. Death is needlessly punishing, especially considering the combat being janky as ♥♥♥♥ and I've only been playing PvE, i'd rather not imagine pvp. Also, you can be fighting a bear, it deals like low damage each hit, but then it will crit for 7-8 times that damage, instilling fear of unfair deaths right away. There are plenty of small things that are tedious are annoying, and those things add up. It is frustrating, it could be much better if it was adjusted for PvE Coop. I don't think there was ever an audience for a competitive side-scrolling scandinavian survival tower-defense game, and i'm certain I…
