✦ AI summary

Sweet Hamster Days draws a divided reaction from players, with most praising its visual appeal and novelty premise but criticizing its uneven pacing and lack of comedic commitment. The story reportedly improves significantly in the final third, particularly on certain routes, though some feel the narrative drags too long before becoming engaging, while others find the dialogue and writing fail to live up to the unusual concept altogether. Players seem to enjoy it most as a casual, social experience rather than a serious story-driven game.

My initial thought was that they didn't quite know if they were making a fanservice game or a game with an actual story, and in the end result, both aspects were kind of half-hearted. But then I reached the last third of the game, and realized the biggest problem with the game was actually pacing. Because the story does get actually good, even really good, towards the end (Futaba's route, and the
alternate timeline
), but that was after such a long wait. The first third was just ridiculous fluff, the second third focused more on the story but didn't really get anywhere, until the last third saved it. But even at the end, in
the alternate timeline
where the story peaked, pacing failed in a reverse way; when things got really good, they were also rushed, almost like fast forwarded. Another thing that helped to save the game was Miyu's acting, of all the sisters it was like her actress was the only one who managed to really act their role seriously, and seriously well. Futaba's was OK, but Himari's actress was clearly not feeling it. In general, Futaba's route,
the alternate timeline
, and Miyu were enough to make it a recomme…

The acting never got quite silly or overdone enough, the pace of the dialogue and story put me to sleep, and the writing/plot never really lived up to the premise. Maybe these games just aren't for me, but I really cannot recommend this unless you're playing with friends goofing around with some substances.

When I was in Japan me and my friend watched a TV show where these overly buff Japanese guys interviewed the developer or something, safe to say they were extremely excited about this game where you play as a hamster being taken care of by 3 Japanese girls, overall it was a surreal experience but I guess it worked since I just had to get it when I saw it on steam 10/10
