Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

A very flawed albeit very charming and well written RPG (mostly) that could have been a true GOAT if Activision didn't treat it like ♥♥♥♥. I'll start with the things I liked: - Immersive with a great atmosphere that reminds me of Blade and Underworld, with that 2000's edge and grunge - A moody, great soundtrack - Some great writing, with a story that starts strong but ultimately falls flat by the end - Roleplaying is strong, and don't let anyone tell you to not play malkavian for a first playthrough cause I had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blast - Great voice acting - Some cool abilities and skill system - That early Source engine jank that I find charming, but it can be frustrating too sometimes Now for things I didn't like: - Even with the unofficial patch, which is mandatory, I still had crashes and stuttering, though nothing terrible - As I said before the story starts strong, but ultimately you get railroaded through it eventually, and the faction quests feel unfinished and half baked, which is a shame. Plus the ending is... very abrupt - Combat sucks honestly and is far more frequent and mandatory than the game tells you (Jack literally says early on that Guns are useless), and …

Played way more than 4 hours.. but launching directly with the patch.. in crossover on a mac. Hell of a process to get running, but very worth it In case anyone else is trying on a mac, it works for me with crossover in a Win10 bottle. I got the best performance (which is still not great) with D3DMetal and MSync, plus some in-game settings using the console. Unofficial patch is also required to play it; it wouldn't start without it. Fortunately it's straightforward to install

There is so much I could say, but much of it you probably heard already, so Imma just say this: Despite its flaws, this might have become my favorite game ever.

Absolutely amazing. Get the unofficial patch to play it though.
