✦ AI summary

Detective Grimoire is a short mystery game with charming voice acting and an enjoyable story that fans of the series appreciate, though players note it shows its age with rough presentation and some character inconsistencies compared to later entries. Most reviewers suggest it's worth playing as part of the series progression or bundled with other games, but less essential as a standalone purchase due to its earlier installment limitations.

Had a fun time playing it but could tell this was the first game of the series. Feels quite old-timey, not in a bad way tho. Would not recommed buying it as a stand-alone but as a prequel to the later games from the series. It is not a must-play to understand the sequels but is a cute build up for what comes next, and oh boy is it good (especially Mermaid Mask).

A short, but solidly built mystery with a colorful artstyle and some great voice acting.

Good game! It's quite a nice interactive murder mystery, with many funny dialogues. The main character is likable, and the story is both interesting and amusing. I would recommend this to anyone who likes point and clicks, although it is quite short and there aren't many puzzles outside of talking to people. The pros : - Great art, whether it's characters or backgrounds, quite immersive, and the animated parts : gorgeous - Funny dialogues, characters can be witty and charming - Well written, I didn't encounter any noticeable plot holes or anything, the clues are quite clear without outright spelling out who the killer is (at first) - Gameplay is not too repetitive for its genre (which is rare for this type of games) The cons : - Very short, but for the price I think it's ok - By the end of the research part of the game it becomes VERY obvious who the killer is, which is a shame because for the first half the clues made it vague enough to be unsure. - Some items can be hard to find and you'd spend a long time running around clicking every pixel, but I guess it's common to every point and click

Absolute banger of a point and click, sweet and super fun

A template that gets improved upon in future games. Generally pretty good, if short and simple.
