Unlike most Rogue-thingies, on Ziggurat your combat skills will be the most important asset to keep advancing. Leveling up and randomly generated content is there to improve variety and make each game different, not to make the game a roll dice or an unbearable grind.
Most perks are designed to change the way you have to play or the weapons you'll want to use. Do you want more speed in exchange for less health, or maybe is better to have mana regeneration? Increase drop rate, or refill ammo here and now? No number game here, simple and direct choices.
We've also ensured that, as a proper FPS game, the experience is quick and direct. There's no inventory to manage or the need to compare two almost equal item drops, just weapon selection, and mana/health are usually the bargaining chip.
A whole arsenal of magic and alchemic weapons will be at your disposal. Wreak havoc among your enemies, but watch your mana reserves or you might regret it later!

I'm honestly shocked this did well. I also now understand why I was so hesitant to buy this. The second boss basically confirmed what other reviews say. Bosses are DPS checks. I got zero DPS increases, just 2 okayish wands, and I was tickling the boss. The first boss was reasonable. This was not. My "free" wand wasn't even moving the health bar.1 found this helpful

[h1]Rating[/h1] 3/10 [h1]Intro[/h1] It seemed like a neat Rogue-like take on Heretic and Hexen, but unfair is the keyword for this game. I can overlook repetitive level geometry, if it meant that time was put into making the combat loop fair and fun, but it isn't. [h1]Positives[/h1] + Weapons have good impact. + Certain rooms have their own unique mutator to occasionally spice up gameplay. [h1]Negatives[/h1] - Repetitive level geometry. - Poor boss battles. Not only are they very clearly DPS checks, but they also don't seem to be balanced around having minions backing them up. - Enemies can shoot projectiles ahead of you in the direction you're heading. Which makes circle strafing pointless and irritating when there's lots of enemies on screen.
Thumbs up as there's nothing broken or buggy, but it's just mid. PRO: It's inexpensive, nice graphics, fluid, fun-ish, variety of chars to play. CON: Respawning enemies behind you is silly. Weapons are meh. Upgrade cards are dull. Level design basic. All in all it shows its age. It's not nearly as intriguing as other games similar in it's genre, but if you really need a fantasy/D&D vibe action shooter for cheap - maybe it'll be more worth than for me as it felt dull and lifeless.
Fast old-school shooter. Very responsive, creative in respect of progress. Great for short mindless sessions. Highly recommended.
an amazing game one of the best very fun and fast paced, but be warned that you'd best have a CRT monitor or some 540 hz thing with hella bfi and motion blur reduction because the game is way too fast paced to be able to enjoy with blurry modern screens your regular 120-165hz flat panel isn't gonna cut it most likely unless you REALLY don't mind blur in motion
