About Planetship

Planetship is both a planet AND a ship, it's also a party bus holo-lounge spice freighter rocket boosting thorium burning well oiled supermachine, get it? You will after a harrowing yet surprisingly relaxing journey through the chaotic void realms of strangespace!

So here's the deal, you've got to find a new planet for humanity to call home in the far future, a real nice spot with all the trimmings: liquid water, the right temperature, not too much or too little mass and atmospheric conditions conducive to keeping homo sapiens alive. We've even done a pile of research FOR you and marked habitable zones with the potential for an Earth-like planet on your starmap, so navigate yourself to a green zone and pick out a cozy little pad for the crew. What could possibly go wrong?

P.S. - One little thing, if you're going to pilot this craft we're going to have to shed your body from your brain and hook wires up to whatever's left, Dr. Scienceman here says it's the only way for you to survive the trip. You're cool with that right? Great.

The game is fun. It's neat. It's... very, very trippy. The trailer does not embellish. The problem is that it has a few small bugs and one huge, nasty bug. One of the conversation topics with friendly aliens results in part of the interface becoming inoperable. Sometimes first contact will glitch out and bork the interface even if a new game is started. And then there's saving... Saving is automatic when you go to the main menu. Sometimes saving will work. Most of the time it will not. This means that all of the progress you have made could be flushed down the toilet when you exit, and you won't realize until you start the game up again. You can easily spend hours experiencing this game, only to have to start again at square one next time you play.

1/10 Rating Great concept but it is the same as “No man’s Sky” to be honest. This game is horrible in terms of menu function and game play in general. You have no idea what you are doing and you have to play almost an entire day to unlock the achievements which is insane. If you are a casual gamer looking to have fun in low budget space then this is the game for you. If you want something more serious and detailed then “No man’s Sky” is the game for you.

Zoned out playing this for an hour. Feels nastolgic yet modern at the same time. Default controls on Vive are not the most pleasant in terms of ship control; but overall a good experience with neat visuals and a lot of potential.

I'm going to take another shot or two at this and see if it clicks, but it feels like being in someone's acid trip and I just can't handle it...

The devs use that low-budget display & options prompt every time the game launches. You cannot see or interact with this prompt while wearing a VR headset, so you have to take the headset off, which interrupts the VR experience and inevitably screws up the positioning. No amount of resetting the view afterwards will fix the positioning. You'd think they would have maybe tried to play their own game before selling it. I guess not. Maybe it runs great? Who knows.

Tags: 6DOF - Flight & Space Pilot Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Visually busy. Hard to gauge the ship's distance from objects, controls a bit sluggish. Scan plantets and send shuttles is slow clicker oriented and unengaging. The mouse sensitivity felt a bit off overall. The menus felt amateurish and the engine itself reminded me of Unity. Altogether, the game did not have the expected clean finish that I was expecting from the minimalism, instead, having overlays and tooltips in enormous sizes just floating about next to all the planets. The grinding aspect of the elements might have had a redeeming value in there, but unfortunately the gameplay loop is just too bland and the overall experience is just not very substantive. With no real story to speak of, plot hooks, or any reason to your actions that I could identify. There are better alternatives in the freelancer style games. I would look there and overlook this unless you specifically seek it out to try it out through VR, which I would not even know if that would be recommendable.
