HordeZ is a VR zombie shooter that's more like a buggy, repetitive snoozefest. The graphics are so bad, you'll think you're playing on a potato. The controls are so clunky, you'll feel like you're trying to dance the tango with a zombie. And don't even get me started on the AI. These zombies are dumber than a box of rocks. At £12.99, HordeZ is a total rip-off. It's basically a VR tech demo that's been stretched out to fill a few hours. If you're looking for a fun and immersive zombie survival game, look elsewhere. There are plenty of better options out there that won't leave you feeling like you've been bitten by a bad case of boredom.

HordeZ is a compact virtual reality action game that embraces the uncomplicated excitement of an old-fashioned arcade shooting gallery. Developed and published by Zenz VR, it places considerably more importance on aiming, reflexes, and relentless combat than on exploration or storytelling. Its inspiration comes from the spirit of zombie shooters and rail shooters such as House of the Dead, with some of the demonic imagery and aggressive pacing associated with games like Doom. The result is a deliberately straightforward experience in which the main attraction is entering VR, grabbing weapons, and destroying increasingly threatening groups of enemies. The premise establishes a world being consumed by a demonic invasion. Humanity is being transformed into mindless servants by supernatural entities while portals continue opening between the human and demonic realms. The player belongs to an elite force sent to contain the disaster, close the portals, and eliminate whatever has been corrupted. This background gives the stages some context, but HordeZ never attempts to turn its premise into an elaborate narrative adventure. Storytelling remains secondary to action, which is appropriate…

Way down the pecking order in its category. Very dated now but if you're just looking for a wave shooter and can get it for a dollar it'll keep you busy for a couple of hours. easy to hack the mechanics, the sword has millimetre sensitive hitboxes so literally waving it around in a 1 inch circle gets you 20 hits per second, and can mince the hardest game enemies.

Its got a wonderful retro arcade feel to it. it also feels pretty abandoned sadly, if it had just a little bit more love from the Dev's it'd be something wonderful. you move a little bit too slow at times, enemies sometimes get stuck, grenade throwing into those rings is next to impossible. that glowing cage around you makes it hard to enjoy that being said this is a very fun easy to pickup VR shooting game. dual weilding pistols or assult rifles makes you feel pretty badass. The environments are lovely! a great retro feel that isn't hard at all on a computer. they're gritty and dark, sometimes hellish, sometimes almost like a normal place. the guns feel fantastic. i love the idea of a grabber tool to picking dropped items or that option to just shoot them.

This is a really straight-forward, all-out fun game. Zombies run at you, you shoot them. Simple. The on-rails navigation systems makes it great if your play area is a bit confined, and graphics are not too shabby. In the higher levels you actually get quite a good workout, especially if you run out of ammo and have to use the katanas.

It plays well. It has online co-op. It's free.
